A report that a psychic had killed a goat prompted an investigation in the U.S. military into the possible military applications of psychic powers. According to reports, serious research is ongoing into this field, which does indeed involve soldiers trying to glare livestock to death.

Similar in some respects to the Russian dog-guided anti-tank mine, the 'flaming pig' was an unconventional attempt to counter enemy war elephants. Used by the Celts, Romans and Greeks, the concept was elegantly simple: a group of pigs were coated in flammable tar and, as enemy war elephants approached, set afire and sent at the enemy (range "100metres"). The idea was that this would cause panic in their ranks, partly with the sound of their squeals and partly through fear of the flames.
Perhaps the fire affected their guidance system or the pigs had not been properly briefed, but this porcine forerunner of the antitank missile was not a great success. One problem was that the pigs tended to run around in panic (naturally), and set fire to their own side, as well as disordering formations and generally causing chaos.
