|  GGPutting the fuel intake behind the pilot has to make that maneuver soooo much harder. Wheels

The boom operator didn't seem to be doing much on this video but they can move the boom left and right, up and down, any combination of these, and extend the boom. Having the receptacle aft of the cockpit means the fuel lines do not have to occupy cockpit space. In this video I gained the impression that the B-2 pilot was hand flying throughout. He is of course guided by lights and signals from the tanker. |
