| Senior Member | The island that some say brought Russia to its knees The Billion-Dollar Shack - New York Times Nauru - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Interesting article from the New York Times, very long so I won't post it. So much mafia money was laundered in this tiny Pacific island of Nauru that the journalist makes the case that it has ruined Russia, among other things.

| I just read the whole story.... and it is quite a story. Seventy billion dollars washed clean... for a price. Wonder what would happen if a big typhoon would put that island in it's crosshairs ? Charles

| Senior Member | I really was impressed an island of that size and population could be such a big factor in the global economy. Funny how things work, isn't it?
