Country: | I remember being in the hanger working on an aircraft and the commander came and put us all in formation and told us what happened. We were then put on lockdown and not allowed to leave the hanger except to go in groups to the chow hall. In the chow hall I saw the towers collapse. I dont think there was a soldier in the chow hall with dry eyes.
Later that night we were told to report to the barracks and start packing our bags. We ended up not going anywhere for awhile though.

As I drove by a local fire station on my way to work, I saw the fire trucks pulled out of the station and the on-duty firefighters all observing a moment of silence by the flag at half staff. It was a poignant moment.

we remember - thanks Chris, and thanks for serving

We were briefed a few hours later (stuff that did not make the news till days later) on things and then we really knew. We ended up not going to Afganiland though.
They held us off for other things.

Country: | I don't think anyone who saw it happening will ever forget...
The next generation will probably view it the same way as the current 'young uns' view the Falklands or WW2 - just part of History...
