OMG. Here is what just gets me about this story.

This POS (Piece of S**T) has 71 counts.........71 counts against him and they said he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

What.................The.................F**K????? ??????

Why do we have to pay to keep a scum bag like this alive? God Damn liberals who just think the death penalty is so bad. Stupid liberal agenda minded judges who pass laws to minimize prosecution laws, but pass even harsher laws to penalize victims in instances of retaliation.

Sorry for any type-o's but this just frustrates the ever lovin hell out of me.

IMO they should do like the French did up until the 70's: Death penalty by firing squad. What is more humane & quick than that ? (Eventhough some don't deserve it that way)

Good point, you can re-use the rope. Bullets are a one shot (pun intended) deal.

Probably oughta start a poll, what is the most cost effective method of capital punishment? Rope sounds pretty good.

Actually it was hung, drawn & quartered. Very economical, rope can be re-used, the horses get paid with oats....

Perhaps he should be smeared with honey & devoured by hungry locusts?

Or perhaps that's too good for him...

What happens when the courts get it wrong, and an ionnocent man gets sent to the gallows. I recall a recent study in the US I think, that suggest as many as 20% of death row inmates may be innocent.

Its bad enough when people get sent to prison for crimes they didnt commit, but its a crime as bad as the Nazi death camps when an innocent person gets executed.

Dont get me wrong, if the guy is guilty, he deserves retribution. I chose not to view the tape, but I am opposed to the death penalty, for the reason that the system that sends them there cannot be guaranteed to get it right every time

Just read the article, he's only getting life in prison after 71 counts, that's fu##ked up. People who commit those kinds of crimes deserve no mercy, that's my thought.

Oh, and parsifal, that is exactly why there are sheep and sheep dogs. Your unwillingness to "view" this, is another example of why good men must occasionally commit grievous acts in the name of your safety. Kiss your mama tonight. Sweet dreams.

with respect, but you dont know what you are talking about. If you have seen as many miscarriages of justice as I have, and innocent people being punished, you wouldnt carry on on like some red necked pork F*cking chop.

Do you really think the system cares all that much about getting the right man. The system just wants to balance the books more than anything, so as to say that crime rates are down, or there is a get tough policy on such and such a crime that happens to be in the news right now.

And no, I will not read the article, because i have see so many just like it before. Generally a beat up by some f*cking two bit jopurno who has a bit of a light week in the newsroom, or couldnt be bothered to get off his a*se and do some real research. Im sure this guys a monster, but me reading about it isnt going to change that. neither is it going to help me understand the issue either. To "understand" an issue like this, you have to go through the trial process, examine the evidence, and know the people. Untested evidence is no evidence.

Having said all that, the jury system is all we have. Until someone comes up with something better, we have to make the system work.

And there is NO evidence to support the notion that the death penalty makes the wider community safer. Quite the contrary. It appears that if the state sets a bad example, and starts murdering people, then the community sees that as a cue to start down that pathway as well.

Australia has abolished the death penalty for over 40 years. Contrary to the populist press the crime rate statistics have dropped in that time.

Oh, and finally, I am not the one that needs to be tucked in to bed. I was one of the guys that make it possible for the rest of the community to sleep at night. Perhaps because I have benn a bit cl;oser to the legal process than most of you, I realize its weaknesses a bit better
