Country: | Cricket is a sport for gentlemen and sophisticated people, or statistical nerds...I can see why people would see it to be boring, but actually playing it is extremely satisfying...

| Look at this video clip. The goalie isnt even touched and hes acting like he got a kick in the nuts.
I wouldnt call him a wanker, but a plain old *****. A stinking ***** who deserved a red card. Not even the punters in football act like this.
Hes a disgrace to the game and a reason why soccer needs reform!! http://www.collegehumor.com/movies/1696536/
now compare it to this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arUA8...ootball%20hits

Country: | Being the red blooded englishman that i am i must first defend cricket. Although i will accept that it is a slow game as compared to say basketball. But it has an appeal far above such a rudimentary sport, please no flaming about the indepth rules.
Back to football.
I will agree that the modern professional players are somewhat lacking in most of the requirements to be decent human beings, however as a game it does have the same rudimentary appeal as basketball and hockey (field and ice).
Now if you are looking for a real sport then look no further than rugby. This trully is a spectacle to watch, sound or no. Some estimate that i read in the newspapers during the world cup was that as part of leagal play (i.e. not including any fights, high or dump tackles) a rugby player will go through the equivalent of five car crashes in a match.
I love the way in which the game requires different builds of person for the different tasks on the field. Every player is completely specialised for his position.
One limiting factor to watching and playing rugby (like cricket and hockey and american football by the way) is the in fairly indepth rules which rule the sport. |

Country: | I used to play rugby, so I can appreiciate the game. And do enjoy watching it from time to time. Always one of the highest scorers on my school team. I was the fast, agile winger that the other team hated because they couldn't catch me.

Country: | I agree. Through my five years in the school rugby team, I was hooker, flanker, No.8 winger, center (both), scum-half and even prop for all of ten minutes because all our other ones were injured. The prop business was not pleasent.

Country: | The sport of Football has been played since the 13th Century, but it was banned for a while, as the King decided the villagers were not spending enough time practising the Longbow.
Football & Rugby my 2 Favourite Sports, followed by Cricket then Ice Hockey, I use to watch the London Monarchs, when the World Series of American Football existed.
Did you know the Americans have a Cricket Team, and the Ameican Cricket Association have applied for Full Membership, they have been Associate Members of the ICC since 1965

Country: | They are not very popular in American because most Americans do not like the sport and I have to say I agree with them. Cricket is just boring to me.
