| I think Nova did a special on that PT Boat a few years ago on Public Television. I've read that several of the 80 Elco boats carried as much weaponry as a WWII US Destroyer. Lot of punch for a smaller craft. I've read several books outlining the exploits of US PT Boat Commanders and crews during WWII and some of the things they did were beyond belief.

| Thanks for a brilliant post Roman! Wizard, as far as I know, there's a restored, operational MTB or MGB, somewhere on the south coast of England, and I've been on a similar vessel, used for pleasure trips, to the Western Isles, off the West coast of Scotland. The latter was apparently built as a MTB, but then converted for use as an inshore mine sweeper, before being again converted for its present use. |
