Country: | Funny, but so tragically true. The number of accidents/incidents directly related to accents and misinterpretations is mind boggling. There is a reason that ICAO recognizes English as the official aviation language. There are numerous technical means for testing equipment for speech recognition, but the human factors associated with proper use of the equipment is still in its infancy. This is where CRM was spawned in the late 70s to address exactly these types of operational errors.

Country:  | Had a new controller once when an overflight huey called up stating his chip detector light was on and he was "going to ground" at which point the controller said "roger have a nice trip "

The warning light should read ENG FLL APRT
