| WWII Pilot (my girlfriend's grandfather) has cancer. I just found out tonight that it's nearing the end of a long flight for the grandfather of my girlfriend (of 4 years). He flew P-47s in the Pacific with the 7th Air Force before switching to transport. He's 94 now and I've always found him to be a real gentleman, friendly and engaging. I hope he has more time left, but I am deeply saddened by the news.

| I didn't learn he was a fighter pilot until one thanksgiving I was talking to him and made a reference in conversation to the P-47. He said, "I flew a P-47 during the war." and I just stopped with my mouth open for a second, then said, "Then why am I still talking?" edit: remembered my exact choice of words.
