    cameras.

    Hi
A few photos from an old backup disc.
If anyone wants to caption the type/s please do as I have little knowledge on the subject, but thought others may enjoy them.
    Cheers
    Jerry

    Positioning?

I would like to model several Luftwaffe recon planes but have no idea of the correct size and placement of the viewports. Are the cameras all vertically mounted or are there some oblique-angled mountings as well? Does anyone have photos or drawings (especially 109s, 190s and 262s) showing where these cameras were placed and the size of the lens openings?

I realize this is deviating somewhat from the technical nature of this thread and I apologize for asking the question here, but I have not found it discussed in any of the other threads.

Thank you for your time and attention,
    Jack

Beautiful, just the type of thing I'm looking for, more of those would be greatly appreciated. Maybe soon I'll be able to find a library copy of "Aufklarer - Luftwaffe Reconnaissance Aircraft and Units 1935-1945" by David Wadman.

    Thank you very much.
    Jack

BTW, here's a little something for Chris to decipher,

    Beautiful Stuff!

    Wow, great shots for scratchbuilders.

If you run across any more, you know where to drop them off.

    Thanks again,
    Jack

    Hey Jack,

The typical recon version of the Me262 was the Me262 A1a/U3, equipped with a RB 20/30 camera and often armed with a single Mk108. Some were known to have two cameras, a RB20/20 and a RB 75/30.

Later in the war, there were a few other variants besides the A1a/U3, which were the A4a and the A5a. I'm not sure which cameras were installed on these variants, but the A5a was armed with only two Mk108 cannon.

I've been searching all over the net for data on the Rb 50/30.

I'm building a 1/6 model of the Fw 189 cockpit. I have the frames up and before I go much farther I need to find some data on the Rb50/30 so I can guesstimate the size of the hole where the camera mounted.

I plan on making a model of the camera, but for now if I knew how big the camera stand/frame was I could at least cut in the hole and any mounting hardware.

Here's a couple of photos of what I've done so far:

So far just baby steps. I want to get as much of the internal detail done as possible before I go on to the nose and tail cone. I have the MG15s and 12 ammo drums.

If anyone has dimensional data on the camera or the mount I would be grateful for whatever you can provide. I think I've exhausted what little I have in the way of books and have gotten about all I can off the net.

Bruno - The original post on this thread contains a PDF of the Rb 50/30 manual. While I did not spot the weight in it, I also did not translate it fully - The weight could be in there.

Dubar1 - nice work on the Fw-189. Regarding the size of the Rb. 50/30 I suggest the same advice as above - the PDF does contain detailed measurements. (Granted, your question is a 1/2 year old by now, so you may have moved on.... but others might benefit).

As a last resort for serious researchers, go to the Aviation Museum at Sola Airport in Norway. (Flyhistorisk Museum Sola). They describe having one on long-term loan. Try asking if you can have access to it.

    Best, - Wiking

    ...
Sorry Wiking and @ Bruno, the weight is not there as this is a manual for tuning or upgrading the Rb's.
But from memory, i seem to recall, the Rb 50/30 had a weight of approx. 160 Kgs, exclusive of the rig.
