| Magneto I have a couple of new Air Craft Magnetos I would like to find out what they are and sell them. One says on the tag, "Ranger Aircraft" I aquired that with some V12 Ranger Motors. Although that one is a 6 cylinder. it says Type SB6RN-10 and a lot of additional numbers including Model Desig S86R-10. The other is a Bendix Type DF18RU1, Spec AN-M-4 Can anyone tell me what these mags are, where I might be able to sell them and what they are worth? Thank you Richard |

| Those are both pretty old mags - as you know they provide the "spark" in the aircraft's electrical system and are self generating once the engine is started. I am unaware of Ranger making a V-12 aircraft engine. SB6RN-10 is actually a Bendix mag and I believe is used on A65 engines, popular on Piper Cubs.

| here is a ranger V12. http://www.prime-mover.org/Engines/Images/ranger1.jpg from articles.com The plane also served as the test bed for the new Ranger V-550 V12 engine, As can be seen, the plane was fairly sleek and was successful in proving the bonded plywood construction technique. However, the Ranger V-12, which was built in large numbers, was something of a failure even though it was utilized in several military designs. just do a quick search on google for ranger v12 aircraft engine |

| OK - now I remember - the P-77 had a Ranger V-12, I thought it had a straight 6. From "Wiki," here's a list of aircraft it was installed in, the Seamew and Gunner were the only production aircraft that had this engine. V-770-4 installed in the Vought XSO2U-1 Scout V-770-6 installed in the XAT-14 Gunner prototype, intended for the Ryan SOR-1 Scout V-770-7 installed in the Bell XP-77 light-weight fighter prototype V-770-8 installed in the Curtiss SO3C Seamew Scout V-770-9 installed in the XAT-6E Texan prototype V-770-11 installed in the Fairchild AT-21 Gunner V-770-15 installed in the Fairchild AT-21 Gunner SGV-770C-1 tested in the Curtiss XF6C-7 Hawk Fighter-Bomber at 350 hp SGV-770D-5

| "Shooter" ![]() | Hard to imagine a T-6 with a V-12 in it. It wouldn't sound right, but I would imagine it was pretty darn fast, for a T-6.

| Better looking picture found in squadron signal AT-6 book. According to the book only one aircraft was built by the manufacture and then one more built by a privateer
