Master Sergeant
I have had to "squash it" a bit to a respectable size. Should still be good though.

Cheers

Yes, there is a whole fleet of manuals for the Beaufort.

RAAF publication number 185 - Pilots notes for Australian Beaufort aeroplane
RAAF publication number 204 - Beaufort all marks weight sheet summary
RAAF publication number 280 - Beaufort Alighting Gear Servicing Instructions
RAAF publication number 294 - Beaufort Descriptive Manual
RAAF publication number 299 - Beaufort Electrical Service Manual
RAAF publication number 483 - Australian Beaufort Repair Manual

I have 280 and 299 if there is any interest in posting those.

For Beaufighter there is: -

RAAF publication number 249 - Beaufighter I - Special Repair Schemes Production and Distribution
RAAF publication number 259 - Beaufighter weight sheet summary
RAAF publication number 615 - Aust. Beaufighter MK.21 Descrip. Manual
RAAF publication number 671 - "Australian Beaufighter Repair Manual"
RAAF publication number 693 - Pilots notes - Beaufighter Mark 21

Cheers

Hi Peter,
Wow.. didn't know there were that many manuals on one type of a/c...
I for one, would love to see the 280 alighting gear servicing instructions.
Cheers

P.S.
How do you squash pdf's ?

Okay Jerry, I'll post the Beaufort Manual soon.

I use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro. It has a function to reduce the size of the file with one click. It goes through the document and compresses each page, but does degrade the quality.

Cheers

Peter that is fantastic, glad I didn't have before I finished my Beau for this current GB, otherwise, knowing me, I'd still be building it with all sorts of internal extras.

Peter,

Thanks for posting the excellent manual on the Beaufighter 21. I have a question for all Beaufighter enthuiasts. As I understand it, the Beaufighter pilot's seat folded backward to allow the pilot to get out. Would someone be able to confirm if the seat pan also moved, or was it only the back of the seat that folded down?

I have read one pilot state the Beaufighter seat would "collapse and buckle forward", but this doesn't sound right to me from other descriptions that I have read. I am not sure why he stated it would buckle forward unless the seat pan possibly moved forward at the same time. Any information, pictures, drawings, etc describing the seat folding/collapsing process would be much appreciated. This was quite a unique set up for the pilot's seat, and I am not aware of any other cockpit that had this type of arrangement (other than other Bristol aircraft possibly). Due to the set up, there are not many pictures which give good detail to this arrangement. Thanks in advance.

Ron
