Glad to be able to help. I have a bolt which might be from a P-40 - but, then again it might be from an FB Holden...

Thanks so much! For my research, dates are very helpful, and the older the better. If I have time I might go through them and add the dates and manual IDs to each line. (RAF manuals often don't have dates, and same for early US ones, but usually you can guess.) If I do I'll send it back to OP and ask him to add them.

Any other suggestions for amendments?

I have an excel file (US, foreign, Helicopter Misc) that uses this format:
Manual number, Date of issue, Rev/Chg Date, Description, Format, Pages, Posted by, date downloaded

My listing also references superseded manuals and dates of issue when I find the information.
Contact me on discrete if interested.

Example:

TBM
AN 01-190EB-1 01-Nov-45 Pilot's Handbook of Flight Operating instructions, Navy Model TBM-3 Airplane Digital 97 Brewerjerry 6-May-13
AN 01-190EB-1 15-Aug-45 Superceeded by AN 01-190EB-1, dated 01-Nov-45

The top two lines are one line and the bottom line is red highlighted in my file.
If someone would like to merge my excel file with a hyperlinks to the manuals, that would be beneficial for all.

I have found a number of manuals on scribd.com, including Erection-and-Maintenance manuals for both the A-20 and A-26. There are also many books and other helpful references, just search on the aircraft type (you may have to be somewhat specific to avoid a lot of spurious stuff). Many downloads are free, many others require a $9/mo membership, but you can cancel at any time. I have let my membership continue for awhile now, as I seem to keep coming up with new finds that make it worth the cost.

One I have not been able to come up with is the Erection-and-Maintenance Manual for the P-61 (part# AN 01-15FB-2). I can't believe someone has not uploaded this somewhere, considering the vast quantity of other resources available online now.

Hi, vB, do we have the manual for the 'british Lightning' (non-turbo P-38, broadly speaking) uploaded here? It's on my HD, ready waiting...

To me the biggest deficiency in the index (far greater than the date but to me that is second major problem) is which manual is being referenced - eg there are two Grumman TBM manuals - but what manuals. On a snail pace link (NBN satellite service) downloading them to find they are both pilot manuals was a waste of time.
If people put a three letter manual type code it would really help
These days the standards are AFM for aircraft flight manual, AMM for maint manual, IPC for parts list and SRM for repair manual but even the old PN for pilot notes or POH for Pilots operating handbook and E&M - erection and maint. Even the old military -1 or -2 etc would help immeasurably.

That said I take my hat off to VikingBerserker for the fantastic index he has created and when I upload some docs (very soon touch wood) they will definitely have the 3 letter manual type and date (and TO # if applicable)
