Operation of handley-page slats on the bf109

I hope this is the right place for this post. I did a search for info on here first and found several threads about the performance pros and cons of the slats but not really what i wanted. I was at the 109 lair and the info there is excellent, but did not fully answer my questions.
Does anyone know of a parts breakdown of either the old (E/ early F style) or the newer ball bearing system of the G newer slats?

I understand how the work inflight but no the ground I always thought they would be open. Info I read now indcated they could be both open or closed. It this true?

Finally, I saw a video on the net somewhere that showed a crew member moving the slats on a 262, but can't find it now.
