| Painting Bombs Tried putting this in the Aviation weaponary thread but had no reply Are bombs just olive drab? I talking Pacific Theatre 250lb, 500lb general purpose bombs. I am sure I have seen yellow bands is this right and if so where do they go ...................... the bands ....................... I know where the bombs go |

| If you're talking U.S. bombs, then they were mainly Olive Drab, the lighter shade, although they could be a greyish green, or Medium Green. British bombs were normally Dark Green, although early war, they were often yellow. The stripes would depend on the explosive content/type of bomb, but were normally on the main body, just aft of the nose. There are many variations, including the stencilling showing explosive type, depot, etc. I think Micdrow has some pics in one of his threads, or in the photo album. Maybe a message to him might provide further info?
