Question RLM color for Dornier DO17P instrument panel?

I am building a Dornier DO17P (RS Models 1/72). I know that the interior color is RLM 02. I have read that the instrument panel should be "grey". I have also read comments suggesting that the instrument panels in Luftwaffe aircraft should be RLM 66 (Black-Grey).

This kit comes with an Eduard PE set including the instrument panel. It is grey, but seems lighter than RLM 66. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Peter and welcome. Without seeing photos of the Eduard panel, it's hard to say what was supplied. I have the Eduard Bf 110 and they supplied panes in both RLM 02 and 66. I think RLM 66 is the right colour but defer to others who may know better.

Have a look at this site Luftwaffe Flugzeuge (click on "Bomber" then "Dornier 17Z"). Although this is for a Do 17Z, the panel is clearly RLM 66.

I'd go RLM 66, all that glass you see. RLM 02 much less likely and RLM 41 (another grey found in some early machines e.g some Bf 109E-1s) even less so.

I agree with Steve. The panel was probably a slightly lighter grey than RLM66, and was similar to the Bf109E4, but whether it was RLM 41 I don't know. It cetrtainly wasntr RLM02, being much darker. So, a dark grey, as a compromise between 66 and 41 shuold look more than acceptable in this scale.

Simply if I were Petersig ...I would add a few drops of white paint to the RLM66 and voila.

All, thanks for the input. Even though the Eduard PE is lighter than RLM 66, I think I will go w/ the RLM 66 where appropriate.

    Thanks again.

So, since I now know that I am using RLM 66, I have some other detail quwstions that I hope people might have some ideas about. First of all, I have found plenty of photos of the DO 17P (and M) cockpits looking forward at the pilot's position. I am having a hard time finding pics showing the other crew member's stations. Photos looking towards the rear of the crew area would be very helpful. Speaking of the rear of of the crew area...... There is a bulkhead that has what looks like some sort of instruments. There is also is a a box that looks a bit like an envelope. Any idea what it iis? Also, did any/all of the seats have leather seat cushions?

    Thanks
