Country: | A day at Santa Paula Airport I finally got a chance to push the D80 through it's paces today. Santa Paula airport is north and west of me. It's a neat little airport with some unique gems. Here is a small sample of the stuff from today. Enjoy!

Country: | Cheers. I still have some settings to tweak to get things set up right, but the quality and clarity on the D80 are great. I had a couple of times the shutter wouldn't open (AF-A setting) and I had three times where the picture was WAY underexposed (metering). I am still dialing those in, but it was great for practice and, of course, fun.

Country: | Yeah, that part of California is pretty nice. Santa Paula and Fillmore are nice little towns. Far enough away from the goofballs. It was windy as heck out there though. 30 knot gusting crosswind. Made for some exciting landings to watch!

Country: | It's a Ryan PT-22 Recruit. They have quite a collection of Ryans at Santa Paula. There are at least 3 of them at Camarillo also. Neat planes with a distinctive sound. They have a 5 cylinder Kinner radial engine that sounds like a washing machine. That's why they're often called "Messershmitt Maytags".

Country: | To give you guys an idea of the winds, here is an animation of a great Navion pilot's crosswind landing. It was very smooth considering the winds he was getting hit with.
