Been a busy shutterbug lately. My latest galleries are online, 16 galleries of photos from 2 Saturdays at Camarillo. So much fun. I was contacted by an artist to use one of my photos as a basis for a charcoal sketch. He's quite good, so I look forward to seeing what he does with it.

I was just wondering if you happen to have a shot of the raptor from a straight on somewhat elevated view. I was thinking of having it airbrushed on the hood of my car. Yes I happen to like that aircraft alot and have not even seen it as of yet. (not very happy about that either)

At the moment, this is really the only straight on view I have. I don't know if I'll get to see the Raptor this year. Most of the nearby military shows are either in their off year, or they are not happening. Edwards is doing runway construction, so no airshow up there this year.

Thanks eric but it's alittle to straight on. I was looking for a little more elevated head on view. it's a great pic though.

Thanks guys. I have a bit of a lull in the action right now. Riverside is at the end of the month, though. That's always a nice show.

I picked up a new lens yesterday. I pranged my 28-80 against a door frame a couple of weeks ago. It was tweaked, but appears to still work, for now. I'm not taking any chances on it failing in the middle of an air-to-air shoot though. Besides, I have been looking at this lens for quite some time. It the Nikon 18-200 AFS VR DX lens. It focuses very very fast and has the vibration reduction, which helps a lot on long shots. Here are some quick test shots from yesterday in the back yard. The lens is nice and sharp.

Thanks Wayne (and Mrs Wayne!). I have been playing around with this lens and I am liking it more and more. It was to be for my statics and air-to-air mostly, but after shooting around the house and outside with it, it is likely going to be my general use lens for everything else too. The focus is very, very fast and with the VR, I can catch the kids every move.

Yeah I read good things about that lens when I was looking for a new camera (most along the lines of it is the Nikon General Purpose lens to have - also the top Nikon lens at all the online UK camera shops).

Good photos, if I get round to getting internet on my laptop (internet cafe only atm) I will upload some of the pics I have taken here (long exposures, landscapes and some wildlife).
