Believe it or not, it's actually highly polished aluminum! It's a constant battle with oxidation.

Wow looks flawless. I;ve seen polished aluminium and that just looked too perfect.

THe oxidation must be killer to keep on top of.

CHeers.

It is, and you will often see someone with a rag nearby when it is sitting on the ground. Same with the polished Mustangs and that A-26. Chrome is much heavier than aluminum.

Just playing around today, getting some framing done for shots that going into a charity auction. I framed a couple for my own "Hall of Aviation" which features mostly my own work and some artwork. The Bud Anderson profile is signed by Bud himself and the B-17 is "Knockout Dropper", numbered signed by the artist, Witkoff. The photo below that is mine, signed by Rob Harrison. Then as I was doing that, I discovered my daughter reading "Warbirds International". That's my girl!

Yep, and not just any Spitfire, but the one in the restoration hangar at the museum where I volunteer! She happened to grab the right magazine and the right article.

Another published photo. Anyone who gets UltraFlight magazine will see my shot on page 23 (uncredited). Here is the shot, so at least you'll know it's mine. It's a nice big 7x5 in the magazine too.
