Country: | Wayne werke nummer means really nothing in this case about blown canopys or even outboard 2cm fit but that again was between pilot and ground crew. Guys I am awful reluctant to post any more pics of Fw 190's of JG 301 for the simple reason they will be used in a future work on the unit. I will include this I./JG 301 shot for all of you - Clave for the fuselage band fit and height of the white bar in this case |

Country: | Erich, great pic! and thanks for your reluctant posting. At first glance it looks like 961699? but can't be certain at all.
You are of course right about W.Nr. and some aircraft details, I'm simply trying to stimulate info that might give us direction.
Clave, certainly prefer the look of the earlier profile greys, the RGB values look way too dark. The stretched 2 looks better I think.
The right hand side of the Yellow band is about right take the other side back to its original position and widen the red to a similar proportion.
I think we have way too much tight mottle, take away maybe the bottom third of the mottle and soften up the remainder.
The Grey camo strip going up on the tail should be reduced to finish before the W.Nr. and reduced by about a third in thickness with some of the soft grey mottle on the top of the fin so the W.Nr is more legible.
I think the front third of the upper cowl would more likely be the lighter grey.
Thats all for now... |

Country: | I will go back to the earlier colours - these two are way too dark.
My major problem is with the blurring of the camo line edges - I did think I had it cracked, but there is a 'step' which shows up all along the bottom edge as a black outline. I can fix it, but it is annoying and time-consuming... Oh well 'back to the drawing board' as they say...

Country: | very very impressive Clave.
~maybe Les can place a scan from Reschkes book of III./JG 301 A-8's. there is a photo of some 5-6 Fw's in a row facing right, one of them is incredibly dark, the pic from the Fall 44 period. I mention this as only for reference.

Country: | Erich, your Red 3 image do you have a similar shot from the other side? If not do you want it? Also have what appears to be Yellow 18 rear fuselage shot in a not too happy state, both from the internet. I would think that you already have them...but you may not. |

Country: | Ok Guys, no probs...here they are.
Will be happy to see Vol 1 at your earliest convenience...please!
As you can see it's the same Red 3 the give away is the bent D/F loop antenna beneath the fuselage cross.
You can just make out what looks to me like a yellow 18 on the second photo.
