Incredible photos! Hard to comprehend, living in a country experiencing its worst drought. There was a news item tonight interviewing residents of New Orleans complaining that officials had "over reacted" regards the storms intensity and they "would not trust them in the future".

Poor officials! Damned if they do, and damned if they don't. I'd be out of there in a hurry.

Yeah me too Graeme, much better safe than sorry.

Good pics Dan, like rochie I'm glad I live somewhere where the weather generally isn't life threatening (except in the Winter - especially if you have no clue).

Congrats on getting through with nothing more than pictures. Good for you. Been through two of them. But both were Northern Cat 1 storms and we didn't take a direct hit. Not much to talk about.

Although there is a storm coming out of the Carribean (Hanna) and heading our way. We are down in terms of rainfall around here and could use a good foot of rain. Probably have people out doing rain dances on the Pa/MD border trying to get it to come this way.

Glad to see you were able to keep your powder dry Dan. I know what you were feelin'.

Back in '85 I had to evacuate ahead of "Gloria" at the Jersey shore. Disconcerting to say the least.

Good Pics, Dan. I hope I don't have to go through this crap with Hannah.
One good thing, I'm eight miles from the ocean front, but my corner has been
known to flood. I've had water 3/4 the way up my drive-way. Guess we
wait and watch. You know... like the Navy.... hurry up and wait.

Geez Les that was close. I noticed that you don't have gutters on your house. Most houses down there not have em? Sure would help to keep water out of your crawlspace.

Nice pics Les, but most importantly you and all your family and property is safe.

It just goes to show you that you never know what is lerking in the depths of the ocean and will get washed up on the beach. What the hell is that big thing in the middle of the last pic on #7?
