A couple of days ago the family and I made a visit to the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide. Truely an excellent museum I must say, my son thought he was in heaven! Anyway, here are some pics hopefully all you closet train buffs will enjoy, just don't ask me whats what because when it comes to these old loco's I wouldn't know one from the other.

Once we were finished at the Railway museum we popped in to the South Australian Aviation Museum which is located next door. Though only a relatively small museum it does have some fantastic aircraft on display.

- Macchi jet trainer
- Westland wessex
- De Havilland Moth
- Avro Anson under restoration
- RAAF roundel from the wing of an Anson

Last but not least my favourite aircraft on display is this very authentic looking MkVC Spitfire. This a/c served with 79 sqn RAAF and crash on Kiriwina Is in 1943. It was recovered and restored from Goodenough Is in the mid 1970's.

Thanks guys, glad you liked them.

BTW, I didnt know Spits were used on Kiriwana. I thought they were limited to the Darwin area.

Sys, 79 sqn Spitfires were deployed to Goodenough Is, Kiriwina, Momote and finally Morotai. Additionally 452 and 457 sqn's also deployed to Morotai and Borneo later in the war.

Trains ..Planes its all good...Thanks for posting the photos ...The wood work in some of the train cars is very cool...
