Alright guys, knock it off. 38, I know your intentions are there, but being full of piss and vinegar isn't enough when he fit hits the shan. It takes training, lots of it and a whole lot of discipline. Lacking either of those will get you zipped into a bodybag post-haste. Don't be too itchy to get into the sh*t, it's not a pleasant place to be, even for a seasoned vet.

I am not going to knock you for the way you handled yourself with pD but I will tell you it shows how naive you are. You say you are tough and can handle yourself in combat. How the hell do you know? Im not stupid. I wouldn't run like a girl either. I understand im not old enough, but I am not a coward. Besides, you dont see people my age coming to these types of forums supporting our troops and actually being interested in previous wars.\

I understand the stuff you have seen Alder. I saw one of your threads with pictures you took in Iraq. They were gruesome and some what disturbing.

But if you think about it and like what Pisis said, at least ill be there to help. I've heard and seen people talk about about the soldiers, marines, etc. I was right there defending all of you who have served by telling them that the troops are heroes protecting our freedoms.

You know, Im am going to college, im am going into JROTC next year, but when im out of school, I plan on joining the Army National Guard.

Thats all I have to say.

It's not just the sights, its the smell too. There were things I saw that I could deal with, but sometimes the smell is overpowering. -38, you are naive at best. You think you know how you will handle things, but you don't have any idea until you get there. It is my sincerest hope that you never have to get there. Because as any of us can attest to, it's not about glory, bravado or any of that other BS. Its about fear, adrenaline and survival. There is nothing fun about it.

Hell, I watch some big brave boys in basic get reduced to a blubbering mass when a group of DIs jumped him. And trust me, it will scare the crap out of you. I don't give a rip how brave you claim to be. Basic training will knock the crap out of you, strip you down to the basic level to build you up again. It's a formula that has worked a long time. That alone you have no idea, and no one can tell you until you experience it for yourself.

Once I got out into the boonies for my first op, being jumped by DIs was a freaking cake walk. You really do need to listen and stop trying to make yourself out to be prepared, because the bottom line is you don't know squat. And that is okay, you have a few years to be young and have fun. Do it.

It is very easy to think at such a young age that you're invincible and you are not. No-one is. even if you try and admit verbally to us that you do not feel that way, it is a lie of deceit; You may serve our country yet, your chance will coming too soon ...........

You have a reading comprehension problem, -38. We aren't screwing with you, WE ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. You have NO idea what kinds of things happen, nor are you prepared for it. You can't be. You have to deal with it as it gets tossed at you. But you cannot say you are prepared when you don't even know what's ahead. Enjoy being a kid while you can, you will have plenty of time to be an adult later.

Knock of the bravado. There are a few of us that have seen kids just like you get zipped into body bags in their zeal to "get some blood". If you were paying attention, you would have gotten that long ago. Eyes and ears open, mouth shut. THAT is how you learn.
