Did I ever say I'll be prepared? No. You know, Im not naive, im not stupid, and im not a redneck. If I type "understand" you guys will go after me so ill just say I am listening, even though you think im not. Hell, I dont think anybody can deal with anything that goes extremely bad. I bet it was horrific at some of the stuff you have seen and smelled.

You know what amazes me? That im a 14 year old that is interested with military history, respect our troops and even wants to go into JROTC; AND I know you guys might say something about that.

At least I care to understand. I have been listening and hearing to what you all have said and I really do enjoy being a kid. So this is the last Im going to say and im going to go to another thread and get a way from this one because from my point of view of what you guys have said; to me I have disgraced this thread and I am sorry so I will stop typing and stop being an "annoying naive kid."

I have to say that ur above post P-38 was very well thought out and sincere.... However, my introduction into combat was in Panama at Patilla, and I watched 4 of my Teammates die... Nothing, and I mean nothing can prepare u for the violence and horror of it... Its great that u are patriotic and all, but ur desire to fight and lead men into battle and all that crap will probably get u killed, or worse, some of ur men killed.... Good luck to u in ur future...

Ur gonna need alot of it if ur gung ho GI JOE attitude doesnt change....

I bet it was tough seeing them die. Especially if they were good friends of yours. Sorry for your losses...

I got the pics off of my hardrive now.

P38 what we are saying is this:

You need to stop trying to grow up too fast. You think you understand what is going on, but you dont. I dont care if you are 14 or not. You do not understand combat at this time in your life. You say you are trying to prepare for it. Guess what? You can not. I was not prepared for it...

Stop trying to grow up too fast and stop thinking that you are ready to go and kill someone. Have you ever fired a gun at someone? Ill tell you what that was the most scariest thing in my life, was wondering if I could pull the trigger. You do not know if you can do it either...

Here is the real face of war P38 not the **** you see when you play Call of Duty or watch The Big Red One on DVD. This is the real face of war:

Well, maybe it is quite because they don't think about it. I don't wanna pick at anyone - I'm also a member here and I'm interested in technics and war stuff - but once my very good friend stated: "You know, it's cool but also silly - you are interested in machines that have been invented to kill." Which is completely true, if you see my point...

Being interested is different than not knowing anything about it and saying that you are ready for it when no one is ready for it.

Am I correct Les, Erich and Eric? No matter how much you train, you are not ready for it when it really happens. You are ready to do your job, but you are not prepared for what you see.

That about sums it up, Chris. They train and prepare you to do your job for when that time comes, but nothing can prepared you for what you see, hear, smell, etc.

Alder, I just have to say those are some very gruesome scenes of war; Especially with Pictures 2 and 3. But, if they they weren't killed, they probably would've killed some American troops on a patrol or whatever.

Thats the think P38. I had no problem that those men were killed but what you dont seem to understand is that it is not just the enemy that ends up looking like that!
