I see the PRC of having no intention to give up its claims for the Spratleys. The international law (archepeligo boundries) that the PRC cites as giving it the area, also means the PRC would have to claim the entire contienental shelf. And that overlaps recognized maritime boundries for the PI, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand

as for natural gas reserves there is also the natural gas shelf shared between Australia and Indonesia to take into account as well as both Australia and Indonesia will benefit from the North West Shelf gas supplies in the future. already Australia is in partnership deals with China over supply of LPG and natural gas etc.

Indonesia and Australia have no issues over their maritime boundries, and the definition of who owns what part of the gas field will always be determined amicably.
