That I completely agree with.

Like the Foriegn Legion? It is a good force BUT, it takes Frenchmen out of the loop. Puts France's defense (albeit a small portion of it) in the hands of foriegners. Kind of shoots holes in the whole "Citizens in Defense of the Realm" type of thing. Also smells a bit like stuff I've heard of the fall of Rome.

Good and bad to it.

Mostly bad. Soldiers for hire. Allegiance to no one but themselves.

I guess that explains why the discipline is legendary. Considering the material and motivation, it would make sense.

Certainly there are exceptions, but how can one fathom anything other for a soldier of fortune.

It's amazing that there's no political support for aiding those that served in our military obtain citizenship more easily - yet there's a ton of support to grant illegal immigrants citizenship. I think that's the definition of bullsh*t right there.

Well it will all change here in 2008. I just heard on the news that Hillary was running and was announced as the Dems leading candidate.

And so it begins...

Doubt she will. As somebody once said, "She reminds too many men of their first wives".

On a somewhat related note, is Bill Clinton getting a Gin Blossom?

Haven't noticed. But that can be caused by things other than drinking too.

Just recently it has started to look like he's got one. But given his health problems, I guess it could be other stuff. Don't know enough about it to guess.
