Country: | Canada's New Governor General. Most, if not all, of the non-Canucks probably won't give two sh*ts about this, so bear with me please.
I hate to be skeptical yet again about the political decisions made up there on that circus tent we call Parliament Hill, but this takes the cake. I mean it really does. I'm all for equal opportunity, I do not consider myself a racist or a sexist, and really - let's be truthful, Canadians - who really gives a sh*t about the Governor General?
But come on now! First we had that reporter from Vancouver freeloading in the post for six years, and now this? Jesus! Right off-hand I can think of half a dozen folks who are more deserving of the position, and given a bit of time I know I can dream up some more. I'm just shaking my head at this. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/natio...ed-050804.html |

Country: | You have to understand the Canadian political climate to really appreciate the significance of the decision to choose her as Governor General at this point. As I said, there are others who are far more deserving, and who I for one feel would better represent Canada. My opinion. |

Country: | Two that I can think of off-hand. Females in the post are nothing new. It's not just because she's a woman that I disagree with the decision. |

Country: | I think the greatest problem with her is that she is a journalist born in Haiti. Don't forget that, in our constitution, if ever something happen to our Prime Minister and his Vice-Prime Minister, the Governor General will rule Canada until next elections. Do you really want an Haitian leader ?
I know, I sound racist, but isn't it true that Haiti is a dictatorship with the power being overthrown once every 7 years ?
Think about it... |

Country: | It's not so much about the fact that she's Haitian born. Not really. Maestro look at Adrienne Clarkson, the outgoing Governor General. Now ask yourself what she'd done to merit the appointment. She was a *ahem* "respected" journalist and...and...ummm...well...that's about it. Who was the prime minister who appointed her? That's right, it was Jean Chrétien. How much Liberal patronage was involved there? She shelled out a tonne of campaign bucks to ol' funny face. Plus, she happened to be a Chinese-Canadian woman. Not a political factor? It is in this country!
She freeloaded in that position for six long years, longer than any of her predecessors, and lived like the Queen herself. In all that time she never earned one ounce of respect or admiration from people outside of the Liberal caucus! No one else wanted her there! Do you know who else had been under consideration for the job back then? People like Rick Hansen. Remember him? The "Man in Motion" who wheelchaired himself across Canada raising money and support for cancer research? He actually did something of note and truly represented the people of this country doing it!
Lets look at Michaelle Jean now, the incoming. My first question is, who the hell is she? I've never even heard of her before! I understand she hosted some crap CBC sideshow "journalistic" drivel. What was it called again? The Passionate Eye, or something like that? She's a Haitian woman from Québec. All well and good, but is that what makes her the best suited to be the next Governor General? She's there to "represent the new Québec to the rest of Canada very effectively.". What the hell does that mean?! I'm tellin' ya man, this politically f*cked garbage has got to stop! Chrétien is gone! Lets start pulling this country out of the muck now and stop following his f*cked visions! Jesus!
By the way, I've never been a royalist anyway. Lets finally do away with the outdated, useless, needless, extremely wasteful postion of Governor General once and for all. Yeah sure, we're still a member of the Commonwealth, whatever that means anymore. Whoopty effin' do! Are we f*cking British? (No offence meant by that guys, I'm just making a point about Canadian domestic policy. You guys are great. ) Then lets finally move on already! Christ! |

Country: | That's approximately it. Michaelle Jean hosted a show on Radio-Canada (French division of CBC). She also hosted the 10 P.M. news on Radio-Canada for a year or two. |
