Israel is not all seeing, all knowing, always correct in their actions. The Jews there have a right to survive yes, but in effect they're becoming what they've always despised. They've become a police presence to Palestinians in Israel, with ID's, checkpoints, the works. It's understandable to a large degree, don't get me wrong, but the parallels with Europe of the early 1940's are ironic. There are also innocent Lebanese caught-up in the latest developments. Lebanon is full of Christians, Druids, and even some Jews, who have absolutely nothing against Israel. Even the Sunni Muslims there are sick of fighting. Many of them have already lost everything in the Israeli hunt for Hezbella. Should we feel any less for them?

Murder the terrorists I say, and innocents get caught-up in conflict all the time, but let's put it in the proper perspective here. There are innocents here. Not every Arab in Lebanon has his guns out for Israel. Everybody just understand that. The Egyptians don't have much of a stomach for this sh*t anymore either, although they have terrorist cells of their own to worry about.
Agree with everything you say there 100%. I guess that makes me a bad guy too....

DC and Atlanta aren't really cheap places, especially DC...

Yeap especially DC. I remember when me and my wife spent a week in DC right when I got back from Iraq and boy was it insane. The seafood that I bought in DC was twice as expensive as the seafood I got in South Carolina a week later. The hotels were twice as expensive, etc...

I was not saying that below 150k your life is hell in US, but that up to that income life is a bit better in I,F,D. Say that, given 100 you quality of life in US with that income, you are probably 105-110 in the other countries I mentioned.
But if your family income is 50k, you can definitely manage better in Italy than in US.
Going up in the income, in US you have better quality, because of a less nosy Government, lower fiscal pressure and other things. But of course this does not means that in France your life is bad with a $300k income!

That opinion comes from my experience and observation: I live most of time in Italy, had some significant experience in France and Germany and my wife (unfortunately) live and work in the States ( W. I see what you are saying. BUt I can also honestly say that if I had a $300k income, I could live well, just about anywhere!

I'm a corporate fascist, you couldn't get more anti-communist without being National Socialist.

We all know you Yanks pay a lot less tax than us, don't rub it in.

They pay a lot less than we do too. That's social programs for you. Mind you, I always liked having "free" healthcare. It's paid for through taxes, but it still beats having a multi-thousand dollar bill at the end of your doctor's visit or hospital stay.

Except when it puts you at a 50 or 60% tax bracket - I rather take out my own appendix!

Yep, and I fall smack dab in the middle. Of course being DND, My healthcare is covered anyway, but I still prefer our system. That being said, things are becoming more and more privatized anyway. The well of socialized healthcare is beginning to dry up. It has been for quite a few years now, actually.
