If it not ok to see a US soldier killed on film, it is equally not acceptable to see an Iraqi killed on tape either.

Well, I did say it's a pity that wasn't true. Most French people don't know about Fox News, or they'd have apoplexy!

I think you guys are missing the point about what the CNN item was trying to say or the context in which they showed it.

The French are entitled to have a different viewpoint. They did after all send an armoured division into Iraq in Desert Storm alongside US troops. It doesn't make them anti American just because they have a different view of the world than the US has.

No I am not being guided by his words. As a veteran of that quagmire over there in that damn sanbox, I am very angry that CNN would show **** like that.

Sorry I've been away guys been busy - HQ Marine Corps decided that they're training me to fly the MV-22 instead of helos, so I just found out and have been playing the unit check out games.

I think the french position is clear that they want to be the voice of a cohesive independently minded europe, free from us influence. Problem is, they're not.

Les, that video was horrid. I turned it off. Another example - the american public does not have the right to see that. Free press does not belong in the middle of a war - not like that or the other instances spoke about earlier.

Damn that sucks, you would have loved Helos man. I am not a fan of the Osprey. Killed to many marines allready.

Correct. The French have no intention of participating in a European Union made up of equal partners. They want to dictate policy to the others, full stop.

Example: shortly before the beginning of the assault on Iraq, a number of EU states and soon-to-be EU states signed a document to the effect that they supported Allied action in the Gulf. One signatory was our old friend and staunch ally, Poland.

Jacques Chirac, the French president, insulted the Poles terribly when he stated publicly that they had wasted an opportunity to shut up.

As long as you agree with France's foreign policy, you can have a foreign policy. Otherwise you can not, was the clear message.

If I'd been Polish, I know what I'd have said; exactly what I say now anyway.

For the last thousand years, my ancestors have fought and died to preserve our way of life, ideals, ideas, culture and above all, national and individual freedom; and we of this generation are throwing it away on a plate to the very people we fought.

Of course, if you say anything like that to any of these Euro-nutters, they call you a Fascist. And all I want is freedom.

Have to agree mk, that clip is horrid, and shows the difference between Western and Eastern values... They show their children these videos and praise each other for their devotion to Allah and the cause....

Great freakin role models...

The normal un-educated population has no need to see these kind of clips, I agree... They do serve their purpose in certain aspects, but the bottom line is that the media/press/scumbags should never televise this sh!t as it glorifies their ability to strike fear and terrorize....

As one of my favorite t-shirts states: "Fu*k em all, let Allah sort em out..."

I have to agree with ndicki on the French. I really hate when come over here to Germany, act all snobby and try to dictate the way things should be.

Sometimes I just want to look at them and say:

"6 weeks, thats all it took 60 years ago, 6 weeks!"

Between you and me, that's about all it would take now, as well. Behind the bullsh*t and some reasonable kit here and there (it LOOKS good, which is more important to them than what it actually does), they are, globally, rubbish troops.

As a Marine - looking good is very important! Even more important, however, is being able to close with and destroy your enemy. Unfortunately, they dress like sh*t.
