Admittingly many years ago I was a democrat, I don't agree with a lot of the Republican agenda, but look at all those who label them selves as die hard democrats! There needs to be a party for these idiots to go - In Canada they have the NDP, but with that thier leftist agenda is well disguised...

Likewise, I'm more of a conservative myself, even if I don't always agree with the Conservative Party. They're the right-wingers of our political system, but not to the extreme right.
The Liberal Party of Canada is what you might call centre-left. They usually tend to be big on maintaining the status quo, but any change is almost always of a leftist, politically correct nature.
Then we have the New Democratic Party (NDP) that FJ mentioned. They're the true left-wing party here, and they're as socialist as they come.
The Bloc Québécois is a political party that's devoted entirely to the sovereignty of the province of Québec and their ultimate separation from Canada.

I believe that few ordinary people are really hard-line right or left, but are a bit of both at heart.

The stuff is like that you have to recognize domestic and foreign policy. In the domestic policy, I'm more like a conservative liberal but in this situation in the foreign affairs I'm damn righty....

I choose really not to go either way, and just base my opinions on each event or topic.

It seems to me that Blackwatch showed a direct link of some individual liberals to liberalism, some individual liberals to socialism, and some individual liberals to communism. In my opinion, that says little of any liberal parties, policies, or ideas.

Let me guess you think that Socialists are nothing more than Communists right?

No, I didn't think that even before reading "The Real Threat; Not Communism but Big Gov't and the Left." I understand that there is a very real difference. And contrary to popular belief, they did teach us that in school...even though I live in the United States! In fact, some might even call me a Socialist, which I guess doesn't help my previous argument, but it was bound to come out eventually, especially with Plan_D being on here...
