Country: | Yeah. May be that's why no one ever succeeded in corrupting me... My ancestors are Danish !
However, I must admit that I'm quite surprised by seeing Singapore in 5th place. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Singapore is located in Asia, right ? And Asian countries are not really reputated for being "uncorrupted". |

| Im shocked that Indonesia is not in the top five.
When I going there in the 90's, the level of corruption was worse than Mexico!

Country: | Maestro & Der Adler:
I have been to Singapore once. Stayed there for about a week.
Singapore is virtually a corruption free environment. Police force is a god like organization there. 100% trusted and respected by the citizens.
Unlike the police officers of the USA who enjoy being brutal both when necessary and when it´s not, the police officers of Singapore are very brutal, only when required.
The point is, Singapore has more rules than perhaps any other place in the planet. So while being there, your chances of coming across rules you never heard of increase in quite a significant matter.
So before travelling or visiting, seek information about the place. Very important! What might be "ordinary" in any western nation might equal a severe offense there.
Did you know bubble-gum is not sold in Singapore?
Therefore, when tourists or foreigners arrive, no surprise several might bring bubble-gum with them. YOU ARE HIGHLY WARNED NOT TO THROW BUBBLE-GUM IN THE STREETS OR PARKS, MUCH LESS TO STICK CHEWED GUM UNDERNEATH CHAIRS OR TABLES.
Get caught doing that and you will have huge trouble at hand.
Want to know what clean streets and parks are? Then you must visit that country.
Paris or London are slums compared with Singapore, regarding this particular department. Moscow or Kiev are african nations if compared with the tiny asian nation.
You are warned like hell before entering the country for they have tough rules, and the enforcement is likewise tough.
A friend told me: "Dare you to spit onto the sidewalk while sightseeing".
You´d be in HUGE TROUBLE.
"Dare you to throw the tiniest piece of paper on the street". Big trouble.
Ahhhh and drugs...junkies might want to avoid visiting Singapore; if your plan was to stay there for a few days, and you get caught in possession of drugs, your plans will change, for you will stay there for such a long time your relatives will not even recognize you if they ever get to see you again.
I did not even use the word "illegal" when referring to drugs, for all of them are illegal.
Extremely clean cities, extremely modern. I had a great time there. A place worth the visit.

Country: | But on the other hand, I've heard that because of those...well, fascistic laws, the place is rather sterile and devoid of character because of it. |

| I think Singapore is a bit excessive...I mean,I don't exactly go round breaking the law for fun, but a place with so many rules would drive me insane. And like Med said, I would find it incredibly sterile and boring there. I like dirty, unruly and usually anarchic Britain, at least life here is interesting!
