Out of curiousity, what was you reaction - years ago - to the musical interpretation of the 'Star Spangled Banger' by the late great Jimmy Hendrix?

I remember a documentary about him, where Eric Clapton related the time he saw him first perform - he turned to Jimmy Page (or was it Jeff Beck) and said 'Well, that it we might as well give up now'.

If you're talkin' about the Woodstock performance by Hendrix, had no problem with that at all. There are many variations on the way the National Anthem is played and or sung, some good, some not so good.

But changing the words to be some "Black National Anthem" as this dopey woman did in Denver was disgraceful. She DISRESPECTED the Star Spangled Banner so she is garbage in my book.

Actually I thought the Hendrix rendition was pretty good.

The Hendrix rendition wasn't done to make a statement. It was another way to present the song - called artistic license. Defacing something to prove your point or make a statement is bogus and wrong.
