A lot of land was stolen from Prussia following WW2.

Greedy countries taking advantage of Austrian/German weakness, which of course ended when Hitler became chancellor.

It was Prussian territory in the 1st place.

So really the invasion of Sudetenland/France/Poland was revenge.

But revenge just goes on and on, tit-for-tat, is it better to forget?

Czechs still whinge, but it was they who started it.

British/Russians with Germans and visa-versa and Americans with Japanese 'forgive not forget' attitude is something to be proud of IMHO.

Whatever, you cannot excuse raping a child, ever, unless maybe very serious mental illness.

Sorry to hear that DerAdlerIstGelandet. I bet it stayed with her rest of her life?

Worse than murder I think.

Wow Pisis way to post that a year later....

I disagree with you either way. The Sudeten region was traditional German and everyone knows that. The people that were driven from there, were driven away with no different hatred than the kind that the Nazis brought and the people that drove them from the Sudetenland were no better than the Nazis in my opinion...

For the actual history of the Sudetenland which was not originally Czech in the first place.

888-894: Part of Great Marovia.
894 - 1299: ruled by the Bohemia (Czech Republic)
1300 onward: Ruled by Habsburg and settled by Germans (no longer part of the Czech) and renamed the Sudetenland by the Germans.

It was actually part of the Austrian Empire until 1918 when after WW1 it was given to the Czech.

1919: the people of the Sudentland voted to leave the Czech and rejoin Germany.

1938: Germany retakes the Sudetenland along with its 3.5 million inhabitants which are German. Small majority that are Czech.

1945: Sudetenland given to Czech.

Agreed Erich.

I have listened to my wifes Grandmother tell stories of the Horrers from what happened when they were driven from the Sudetenland. I feel her pain and her anger toward the people that did that to them.

My Grandmother was from the Danzig region of Poland before it became are a part of Poland. When Germany retook Danzig, she was initially happy because she thought she could return to her home. She never did...

Where did you get this disinformation from? Here is three (didn't find the earlier, I'll have to scan them from my books) maps from 17th, 18th and 19th Century, showing that the Sudetenland was a ALWAYS a part of the Czech Kingdom. However, I'd agree with you on the fact that the Czech Throne was held by the Habsburger Dynasty (which became on 23rd October 1526, to be exact).

On all of those three Karten, you can see obviously that the Sudeten were part of the Czech Kingdom. Czechs were, thanks to Germanization of this region, very much Germanized, so especially after the lost ressistance battle of White Hll in 1620 and so on, the Czech language almost disappeared and had to be restored again in the 19th Century by Czech intelectuals.

Don't take me wrong, I'm an amateur historian, I know a lot... It is not truth with the Sudetenland being historically a German terrirotry - it was always Czech. Yes, there was a majority of German speaking citizens but they could move out freely after the 1918. And they were not discrimanted, that is a plain lie - Czechoslovakia was the only democratic country in the middle Europe between 1918 - 1938...

The other thing is what has happened after the 1945. You have to turn a historical eye on it. Of course, there was lot of pain, unjustice and horror. But you yourself say that you don't trust Arab people - you have your experince first hand. Now imagine you'd go through a hell like WW2 was and that maybe your whole family would be extraminated and the German people would be "worth of extramination" by the Arab politics (which is a interesting paralel by the way, because the Islamofscists think completely like that...). You'd survive and when the enemy would be defetaed, would you like to still have the people, who symolized the horror and pain, there? I guess not...

Not mentiong that
1) it was the goal of politicians (because they thought that the turmoil is made by mixing nationlities)
2) most of the drive-out criminals were former Nazi collaborants...

Hope this sheds some light upon the theme.

The correct term is Great Moravia. Though, the correct historical period is from 833 to (probably) 907.

Not the CZ Rep really. The correct historical term is Bohemia (Böhmen )

Nope, you get an F for that. The dynasties go like as follows:
- Přemyslovci (1085 - 4th August 1306)
- Luxembourgers (1310 - 9th December 1437)
- Jagellonians (January 1479 - 29th August 1526)
- Habsburgers (23rd October 1526 - 28th October 191

That's truth.

Where did they voted? From what instance they had a right to vote?

Not retakes, but STEALS!

actually Sudentland was part of the greater Saxon Empire in the 12th century, and this was German primarily Prussia, actually we can even go back earlier than this to the Crusades when the Germanic tribes had settled the region, the Czech settled south. Obviously wars emitted through WW 2. Bohemian glass is of German extraction not Czech although it is always used as a figure of speech - tongue and cheek that it is truly Czech but that is quite wrong

No Pisis a majority of the people driven out were women and children. Out of the 3.5 million aprox. 3.2 million were kicked out the Sudetenland and most were women and children like my wifes family.

A 7 year old child and her mother who are both raped were not Nazi Collaborators.

The Czech just labeled them that.
