| Deportation of Sudet Germans in 1945 Another thread opened for your politic & moral opinions. In 1945 after the Nazi Germany surrender, over 3 Millions of German people were deported from mainly Czechoslovakia and Poland to Germany and Austria. These were called the Sudet Germans, since they lived in a Czech-German borders called Sudetenland.
The Sudetenland and its German settlement very much contributed to start the WWII, when in 1938 Hitler claimed these territories, and, thanks to appeacement politics of Chamberlain (GB) and Dalladier (France), he finally got it. In September 1938, it was agreed in the so-called München Clerk, which was signed by Hitler for Germany, Mussolini for Italy and Chamberlain for the Great Britian and Dalladier for France. Czechoslovakia, preperaed to defend, lost it's natural borders within this act (the Sudetenland is generated by natural mountains all over the Czech-German borders), where most of the defensive bunkers where built. Then in March 1939 German just marched into Prague without any single shot.
The occuppation of the Sudetenland with Germans in 1938.
In eyes of most of the Czechoslovak population, partly the Sudet Germans were the cause of this, partly the trait of the Allies. After the war, there was and idea of national homogenous state, so over 3 Millions of German people where resettled to Germany or Austria, followed by cruellnes, violences and murdering of the innocent.
60 years after the war, there is still a great discussion if it was neccessary or not. I'm curious about your opinion on this event. |

Country: | My wifes grandmother was a Sudet German and was "resettled" back to Germany. She was 7 at the time I believe and was raped several times.

Country: | I wouldn't call that payback at all. Crimes against a child are inexcusable.

Country: | It will get even stronger when you have a kid, trust me. Now that we have a second on the way, this one a daughter, I am even more against these kinds of things. Children are innocent and anyone who takes advantage of that deserves a painful and heinous death.

| Sure.
But when I say it was a payback, I mean this happened to the Czech kids as well from the Germans. What would you expect them then to do? Every situation produces heroes and cowards... |

Country: | I understand what you are saying but 2 wrongs dont make a right. Children are born into the situation, they dont make it.

| I don't say it's good. I only say I understand why the Czech did this to Germans, as well as I understand how horrible it had to be for the Germans... It's our thrauma... Czechoslovakia is in the **** where is now IMO by three facts -
1) Communism
2) Losing its Jeiwsh population
3) Losing its German population |

Country: | Dont take me wrong I can also only imagine what why they did it and I can understand it a little bit. I just think it is a horrible crime to rape a child like she was.
