The End of the Sorry Saga: Amnesty Defeated, States Step In

Hello Folks:

I've just now heard that the Amnesty Bill was defeated. Maybe there is some hope for our country in the future. Keep fighting the good fight. I wrote about 20-30 different congressmen in protest to the illegal Immigration Bill. John Kyl was one of the ringleaders of this damned bill, and I heard that his office was inundated with calls, and there were protests outside.

Like I said, maybe there is hope. My state, Arizona is beginning to take a stand against Illegal Immigration. Governor Janet Napolitano has signed into law more strict enforcement against employers of illegals. Even stiffer fines are being imposed. That's one small victory, but there are many more hurdles to overcome before America is safe from its domestic enemies. Yes I said domestic, and not foreign. The greatest enemies of freedom reside in high places in our own government and in special interest groups.

Can you believe it, a democratic governor is taking a stand against liberal republican and democrat leadership!

And the unaccountable federal judges will step in and block it.

hate to say it but I just heard Governor Janet Napolitano bitching because the feds failed and she must take up the fight. And in all this where is the 1996 Immigration bill that was signed by Clinton and is in place?

Hey Harvard - I heard a rep of Arizona on TV give this statistic:

Arizona spends approximately 2 billion dollars a year educating non-English speaking students in the public school system. This figure is based upon 225,000 non-English speaking students at an average rate of $8,500 per head.

I couldn't find if the 8,500 figure was adjusted for the additional costs of educating non-English speaking students in their native tongue. Any info about that?
