Country: | Upon reflectiom Maestro it would be good for a young guy like yourself to get out and travel the world and make up your own mind as to whats what . the grass elsewhere is not always as green as it appears but that is something you have to determine yourself, but Quebec does have the best looking women in the world and that would certainly influence me |

| Maestro, as a texan, I too would welcome you here if you decided to move.
BTW, various salaries for those interested in being in Security.
I worked as a State of Texas Correctional Officer and had the rank of C.O. III (one step below a Sergeant) Anyway, in 96, I cleared about $23,000 a year but now if I were still in, it would be about $34,000.
Nueces County Jailer salaries currently were $26,000 and some change and just this week was bumped up to $31,000.
Federal Correctional Officer salaries have various ranges but average around $52,000 a year (not including the over-time you wish to work)
Cost of living is cheaper here than in most other States.

| Maestro:
I'm not too keen on Quebec after dealing w/ some of the French Canadians over there. Have you considered BC? A nice area, and the people are really nice.
The drawback of moving from Canada to the US is the larger population, but as you know, the advantage is smaller government.
In Arizona, compared w/ California, your dollar goes a lot further. The cost of a house is about 1/2 to 1/3 of California, and apartment costs are about 1/3. State taxes are low, and I've got to salute Bush for lowering the federal taxes.
Many Canadians and midwesterners are moving out here, because of the 300 days of sunshine. We call them snowbirds, but they're welcome
I'd definitely try BC first, good luck! |

Country: | Yes, I thought about going in BC... The lone problem is that, if I choose to stay in Canada, I'll probably work for the Federal gouvernment (Correctionnal Services) and wages are not higher if you stay in an area where the cost of life is higher. I mean, the Correctionnaal Officer working in New-Brunswick will be paid the same price than the one working in Vancouver... While Vancouver is the Canadian city where the cost of life is the highest.
Unfortunately, because of our educationnal system that is defferent in Québec compared to the rest of Canada, I can't apply for a job in Provincial governments outside Québec. Because when you get out of High-School in English-Canada, you have a Grade 12 diploma, while in Québec, you got the equivalency of a Grade 11. All provincial gouvernments other than Québec request a minimum of a Grade 12 (as well as in the US). So I'm forced to work for the Federal gouvernment or find a job in a private company. |

Country: | What them all are still cheap. Here I payed over 10000 Rand all in all to get my license. Driveing School was 9900 Rand, becuase I need their truck to go and pass and the travic department were over 500 rand.
Do not put it over into dollers, try to think about if you would pay so much in dollors or pounds.
