They already have!
that reminds me of a Kurt Russel film were LA has been evolved to an island of the Damned.....USA has became the mullah state of conservative right....and the the whole country is in the verge of invasion by the Cubans and Ugandans......

but in a more serious point i do think that eventually us will fade away.
and the successor may not be a "white christian nation"
but most likely we will not be around to witness

I'm trying to figure out if the U.S. just fell economy wise, we could be looking at a bigger stock crash then the one in 1929.

The conditions that "set up" the crash and economic mismanagment that made it even worse is highly unlikely to be repeated.

I did a term paper on the crash for my economics class and one thing I was struck by, was the near unanomous agreement among economists that the Federal Reserve tightened credit at exactly the moment it needed to be loosened.

I can tell you though, if the US went into a sharp recession, like we had in 1979 and 1980, then China would be wiped out.

Fortunatley, the Federal Reserve and SEC are run by compatant people. Amazing how the banking and finance industry's demand the best people to make sure everything is run well because it will be THEIR money they will lose if someone mess's up.

Yea, the guy who may have manipulated the crash later helped prevent it from happening again...

Yeah, Old Rum Runner Joe. Guy was smart and had a set, you had to give him that. Unfortunately, they were his best characteristics.

I could see something bad in the economic world happening but it wouldn't be the crash of 29 type of situation. A bunch of chickens coming home to roost would do that. Derivatives (Puts, Calls and Swaps) collapsing on one of these Fridays when they all come due. Or the devaluation of the Dollar due to overspending by the Govt. (even though the US Govt is in less debt than most Euro Govts, it is the currency of the world and is watched more closely). The stops in the stock market will arrest any collapse and force it to be a stepped down affair. Over a couple of days, panic would subside.

But most crashes happen when due to a multitude of factors. Combine a couple of exchanges (London, NYSE and Chicago), add in a collapse of the derivatives with a week dollar and an economic downturn and everything could go kafluey. Most people don't see it coming but sure get a good look at it when it is here.

Ya' know, that ain't all that bad an idea. Silver is going up almost inversely to the Dollar/Euro (actually it is going up faster). Buy 1000lbs of silver (roughly 100k worth) and bury it in your back yard. Forget about it for ten years and see what pops.

There's an old expression that every Frenchman has a little gold hoarded away for bad times. Smart move. Say what you will about the French, but one thing they are good at is getting invaded!

I read here the other day about an old woman who died who has over $100k stashed under her matress. I think that this is more common with older folks who have witnessed first hand the aftermath of crisis like the '28 Market Crash.

Now that would be a pretty cool poll. "Who's gonna invade the French next?"

French Military History in a Nutshell

Currently making the rounds in the military community: The Complete Military
History of France

- Gallic Wars - Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000
years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.

- Hundred Years War - Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who
inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are
victorious only when not led by a Frenchman."

-Italian Wars - Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose
two wars when fighting Italians.

- Wars of Religion - France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots

- Thirty Years War - France is technically not a participant, but manages to
get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other
participants started ignoring her.

- War of Devolution - Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as
chapeaux.

-The Dutch War - Tied

-War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War Lost,
but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frogophiles the
world over to label the period as the height of French military power.

-War of the Spanish Succession - Lost. The War also gave the French their
first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.

- American Revolution - In a move that will become quite familiar to future
Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far
more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the
Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of
the fighting."

- French Revolution - Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also
French.

- The Napoleonic Wars - Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!)
due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British
footwear designer.

- The Franco-Prussian War - Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat
boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

- World War I - Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United
States. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep
with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread
use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French
bloodline.

-World War II - Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and
Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

- War in Indochina - Lost. French forces plead sickness, take to bed with
the Dien Bien Flu

- Algerian Rebellion - Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army
by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule
of Muslim Warfare; "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical
to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch,
Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.

- War on Terrorism - France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders
to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese
ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.

The question for any country silly enough to count on the French should not
be "Can we count on the French?", but rather "How long until France
collapses?"

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an
accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage
