Country: | The Fall of the United States Will the United States ever "fall" in the typical sense of the word, i.e. militarily? If not militarily, will the nation ever fall from it's superpower status? If not, why not? What makes the United States different in this respect? If so, how, to whom, when, why? Will the fall be internal or external? Could such a fall be prevented? Even if you're not a psychic, what do you think? |

| Our economy is just so damn big, it would take a global catastophe to knock us out of #1.
The great thing is North America is slowly integrating economically and we will get bigger bigger.

Country: | All empires eventually fall. I doubt very much that it will happen within the next few generations, or perhaps even within the next five-hundred years, but eventually America's power will wane. Likely over a period of time. Specifically how, I couldn't tell you. I'm no psychic. |

| But is America even an empire in the conventional use of the word? |

Country: | Her influence and power make her an empire. America influences the political scene of countless nations through trade, culture, technology, and her military presence. Whole regions of the globe base their own policies around America. She's an empire. |

Country: | depends what we deem as near future. if the demo herr presidante' hopeful ms clinton gets elected then watch out, the US will withdraw into one of it's gloomiest periods everknown in it's historie. Unfortunately for us and the world this maybe where we are headed with so many pussies in congress right now it would not surprise me in the least |

Country: | Like all things, including nations, the U.S. as we know it will eventually end, either suddenly or gradually. Barring a sudden catastrophe, then assaults on our freedom, whether they come from the Right or the Left, will likely eventually take their toll on productivity, innovation, and the economy at large. This will lead to companies, industries, and eventually population shifting out of the US. As our government gets more and more out of control, grabs more power, and makes more people dependent on it for the necessities of life, whether it's through right-wing fascist or left-wing socialist means, the motivation to be productive and innovative, (which is a direct by-product of personal freedom and the main reasson the US has gotten to this point in only 230 years) will wither and die.
The end result of our current path is the eventual loss of personal freedom, and likely massive poverty after that.
But I think it likely that before all that came to pass, there would be another revolution, either peaceful or violent, possibly involving secession of one or more states.

Country: | I totally agree with NS. Although there is an other point that could make the US "Empire" fall faster... A separation from the ritcher states.
Exemple : if California or Texas (sorry, my knowledge of rich states in the US is pretty limited) wish to leave the US and create their own country, or even create a kind of "Confederation" with other states like in the American war, then the "Empire" would fall apart.
But why would they leave ? That's an other question. |

| Globalization means the old concept of "empire" is changing. The US is not immune to this, and eventually some things about the US will change.
What is happening is the world is integrating into hemispherical trading blocks. The US empire will evolve into a pan North American trading and political block.
I would say asia will have more wars, large and small before they could even think of integrating like the EU or North America

| It is obvious that nothing can last forever but why do you think that the USA can only disappear because of some revolution, crisis or any other bad scenario? Maybe humanity will create some global government and there wont be any need in separate countries. |
