He had respect for the English Empire and the halting of the panzers is a matter for debate. He was amazed that England had achieved such greatness across the vast Earth with such a small population. He also had respect for the combat trrops from Britain (and the Commonwealth) that he fought against in the Great War. One such being Pvt.Tandey, of whom he had a painting of in one of his many residences. Hitler also considered the English people race cousins, as the vast majority of the English are Germanic or Nordic.

Hitler also had respect for the U.S.A until about 1941...

Yeah its been in debate for along time, some say he feared their destruction by the RAF, others say Hitler wanted to demonstrate the power of the Luftwaffe and what was going to happen to all of England by the Bombing and straffing of ships and infantry escaping the beach, but in my opinion Hitler doing it because he wanted to make peace, Due to the fact he had respect for the English and its "highly Arian population"

What? Who said any of that? The real reason up for debate was because Hitler was afraid of over-stretching his panzer forces. The reason this is reasonable is because he ordered a halt many times through Fall Gelb but was convinced otherwise.

Your college professor is a piss-ant. And no, not ONE book ...about 12...and about half of them are written by Germans of the time. Col. General Guderian and Maj. General von Mellenthin being two of 'em.

You are correct pD and that is what Guderian has said on many occasions as well as many other Generals that have been quoted in many many books.

That is correct but if the Generals that fought in the campaign state the reasons behind I tend to believe them over a college proffesor.

That makes me laugh. Do you even know who Col. General Heinz Guderian is, hussars? Do you know what he did during Fall Gelb?

I dunno the guy who made Heinz Ketchup? You basically told me on the last page, dude Im not comparing, Now I can imagine that Hitler may have justified halting them for his own reasons (It was his call was it not?)
and probably had the fate of the Tank Divisions in mind, but I beleive that the main reason for granting Guderian's request was for the politcal reasons that I spoke of earlier and not for the best interests of the divisions. Hitler sure as hell could have used that as a tool to justify why he ordered his tanks to a halt, in his explanation to the German people.
