Matt notice what the pilot is wearing, no summer weight Lederjacke ! note the fur collar - typical fall conditions ----- cold at 28-30,000 feet trying to keep on top of the P-51's ........... no chance
Can you imagine being in WWII and less than 21 piloting such power. Happened on both sides. Magical times.

Looks very much like my leather flight jacket...

I believe it is a G-14 variant, got to find the original for a look see. also of note is the 1944 typical fall spotted paint job done up on many different day fighter gruppen 109's in the west
Your the expert Erich, does the curved frame of the cockpit indicate a G variant? Or did other variants make use of the same. Was the Bf-109 cockpit glass made of perspex (or similar proprietary material).
Man are we off topic.

Figure the kid is about 18 years old, flying an airplane with 1500-1800 Hp and maybe 300 hours in the air. That takes a lot of guts. Pretty impressive.
UH I think the sun is getting warmer. Simple. All suns (stars) do it on their path to NOVA. When that happens, we will not be here I hope.
I remember seeing a documentary that said if the world's life were 24 hours, the last 1/2 an hour would have humans, then the sun goes bang...
Still, there's about another 1000 years in it for us, and by then, hopefully, we'll be capable of interstellar travel. A new planet has been discovered by astronamers in Europe that has just the right conditions to support life. There is a bit stronger gravity, but other than that, it should be perfectly habitable. So once we f**k up this planet, we can just get a new one.

Perhaps just a facetious comment on your part, tpik, but you do know that not all stars supernova and become blackholes, right?

Not facetious, just stupid. I was under the impression that all stars burn out in time and was thinking that was what "Nova" meant.
Astronomy is not my strong suite as you can see. Seriously, do stars flare out or do some just die? I will look up Nova and Super Nova on Wiki just to punish myself for being lazy.
No biggie and I thought that you might have just been making a generalization. Stars can slowly burn out and become brown dwarfs or can supernova. There are shades in between, but that's a nutshell explanation. Just depends on the the size of the star and it's fusion reaction over time... supposedly.
They claim that our Sun will eventually swell as its fusion reaction is consumed and will become the size of our second or third planet orbit. They then claim that it will subside and become a red or brown dwarf. Supposedly it will never become a black hole. It's not big enough. I'll try and find the prior thread that provided some scale of planets and stars. Its absolutely amazing.
Here's some comparison of diameters in the meanwhile...
