Country: | I feel that there are whole new industries and businesses that have been created by the global warming scare. Not to mention new agencies of city, county, state, and federal governments allowing for more and more bureaucratic offices to be opened and populated with employees paid from our tax dollars and new tax levies.
The percentage of Govt. employees in Oregon as compared to workers in the private sector is extremely high and I cannot for the life of me google it. I think they go to great means to hide it.

You may hate politics, but if you don't stand up to politicians, they will eventually run your life.
tpikdave:
I agree with you, and the GW Swindlle video that this thread is about talks about exactly what you are addressing. It was saying how professors in universities get grants to try and prove global warming. Yes this half baked science called GW affects everything from the auto industry to aviation. It's also an attempt by modern day Stalinists to grab power and run everybody's life by trying to tell them what lightbulbs to buy and how much toilet paper to use. It's something that needs to be confronted and stopped.

Why do you think being proactive is paranoid? You said "Only if you let it". How do you not let it, by just living your life and doing nothing about it? Why do you think people write their congressmen? Do you trust people like Ted Kennedy to make decisions about gun control, "global warming" or increased taxes?
What if Ted Kennedy decided that "global warming will require travel bans imposed on the American people". What if congress decided to seize all firearms? I'm telling you they will do it if given the opportunity
I wonder what would happen if everybody "just lived their life" like you do and never paid attention to what's going on in Washington? Tell me, what would happen?

Country: | Reasons why I don't support environmentalist movement / green party:
1) Complete lack of understanding economics
They oppose corporations that could bring jobs and welfare to thousands. This is often justified by claims that "the natives are just fine" and "the corporations have ruined their life already". A great example comes from Ruslan Montana in Romania, where environmentalists seized a mining operation at an area where people had been living out of mining since the Roman empire. They said that they could live from agriculture and tourism. Well, area is so rocky that only potatoes can be grown in some rare spots. Mining is the way for them, and now the environmentalists are taking it away.
2) Hate of progress and "back to the nature" attitude
Many of them think that nations, army, police, capitalism, science, etc, are unnecessary infrastructure created to enslave us, and the only way is to go back to the life of "happy peasants". This is simply crazy, talk of people who haven't studied the history of mankind (or have read the feminist version about the big bad patriarchy and blah blah blah...). And the craziest thing is that 99% of GP supporters are urban people. People who have no connection to the real nature and practically think that wildlife is a damn big petting zoo where wolves hug sheep.
3) Feminist and Marxist ideologies
Many ex-commies like GP very much. Why? Since the global revolution has clearly failed, most of them needed a new cover for their operations. And GP has provided this, with it's somewhat similar goals. Corporations are bad, capitalism destroys the earth, etc. Latest addition are the modern feminists (who have nothing to do with that bunch of women who got equal voting rights). Many of you might not know, but modern feminism goes like this: "In the beginning there were happy collector-hunter tribes, led by women, where men and women lived as equals. Then! Out of nowhere comes the big bad patriarchy and enslaves women, promotes men to leading positions and like women, enslaves nature too. So we must destroy male supremacy, destroy their capitalism, their corporations, their cities, their science, their cars, their fighter jets and go back to the nature." Does this sound familiar when compared to the goals of environmentalist nutcases?
This all really pisses me off.

I do not care to get into this discussion with you. It just does not interest me.

Country: | Harvard, I agree with some of what you say but writing your Congressman, Senator, Assemblymen, etc. ain't it. VOTE! This country is being run for the most part with politicians who were elected by, at times, only 33% of those people who can vote. That is not a majority in my opinion. If every person backed up their dissatisfaction with the government by voting, I don't think we would have the mess we're in. But another sad fact is while most people think the government is crooked or useless they continue to vote, when they do vote, their represenative, over and over, because they believe they're doing a good job.
No matter how greedy, decietful, arrogant, or stupid our elected officials are, it ultimately is our fault. You gotta vote to have a right to bitch. Quote: |

| I deal with these people every day. People who move from the city to the country and then complain because a squirrel is in their yard. I had a lady screaming at me today because I wouldn't remove every raccoon from her woods! Drives me nuts!

I should probably carry a gun when I take a walk behind my house into the woods. We have had a Black bear raiding my neighbors garage for cat food, coyotes, Cougars (I have seen the scat) coons, and I even keep a cover on my dog run to discourage Eagles from taking my little weenerdogs. But hey, they were here first, so we all live together warily. |

Country: | And Eagles are now coming off the endangered species list. About time. They are all over the place here.

Country: | On the way to play golf in Florence last week and saw a Bald Eagle with what looked like a 2 to 3lb fish in its talons. It flew right across the highway going away from the ocean beach. Twisted my neck and damn near caused a gawker accident. |

Country: | I love the Rogue. We honeymooned in Gold Beach and another time almost bought a place with acreage in O'brian near Cave Junction. My next door neighbor is a Book-0-Mormon thumper State Representative from Harney Cty by name of Tom Butler. A complete and utter jerk. Payed the realtor that owns the property in front of me so he could chop into my easement. When I confronted him with a big WHY (he doesn't need the access at all) he gave me some song and dance about egress in emergency???? God I hate the guy.
Remember Marion Carl!!
