Country: | It just gets worse here. Now we have adverts almost every single commercial break telling us to reduce our engine's CO2 by - get this - not revving above 2000rpm. The government are also building more power stations but because the environmentalists are so obsessed with CO2 emissions they will be nuclear (didn't tree huggers used to tell us nuclear power would bring about the end of the world?)

Country: | Just found the answer to Gw and all our other ills. Alexander Abian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Moonless Earth theory
Abian gained a degree of international notoriety for his claim that blowing up the Moon would solve virtually every problem of human existence. He made this claim in 1991 in a campus newspaper. Stating that a moonless Earth wouldn't wobble, eliminating both the seasons and its associated events like heat waves, snowstorms and hurricanes. Refutations were given toward that idea by NASA saying that part of the exploded Moon would come back as a meteorite impacting the Earth and causing sufficient damage to extinguish all life, while restoring the seasons in the process. Just before he died, Abian said that " Those critics who say 'Dismiss Abian's ideas' are very close to those who dismissed Galileo". This claim and others, made in thousands of UseNet posts during the last portion of his life, gained Abian mention (not entirely favorable) and even interviews in such publications as Omni, People, and The Wall Street Journal.

Country: | If this type of stuff were more fringe, I would ignore it. However, I am very concerned with the backing of these types of positions. Certainly there are lots of changes in the earth that are underway. But whether those are trends towards anhilation are another myth.

Country: | Never rev over 2,000 rpm ? The car struggles then and it'll **** your engine up ! And how do they expect us to go 70 MPH under 2000 !?

Country: | The Mayor of London 'Red' Ken Livingstone is now charging older vehicles over 3 litres and newer cars in the highest tax band £25 a day to enter central London RE: £25 Congestion Charge Gets Green Light
If someone could explain how this stops climate change, whilst dirty old Taxis continue at will and offices are allowed to leave lights and computers on overnight, please let me know. Of course this is nothing to do with a car hating Commie being jealous of the well off. In other news, Porsche are going to launch a legal challenge against it RE: Porsche Challenges C-Charge Hike

Country: | You are right, NegC. A modern 5L engine will outperform an older 1.4L anyday of the week. Hold on to your wallets.

Very few politicians have that. |

Country: | Critic cites stats -- Earth cooling down, not warming up
Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow - 2/25/2008 10:30:00 AM
iciclesA prominent global-warming critic says many scientists believe that this winter's weather could point to a future cooling trend.
Marc Morano is the resident authority on global warming with the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works minority staff. He says according to records kept by the United Nations, global average temperatures peaked during the El Nino year of 1998 -- and that since 2001, the temperature trend has declined slightly.
According to Morano, despite the continued pumping of CO2 into the atmosphere, the southern hemisphere has also experienced a cooling trend; and in the northern hemisphere, January 2008, by some estimates, was the coldest month in more than a decade.
"Solar scientists are worried about the lows," he says. "They're calling it the 'disturbingly quiet solar cycle.' And we're faced with again just a lack of years ... of temperatures just sort of 'plateau-ing out' to the point where the head of the U.N. IPCC [Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change] has recently called for an investigation as to why temperatures were not continuing to rise as predicted."
Morano also notes that between 1940 and 1975, the earth's temperature cooled even though CO2 levels rose. And global warming alarmists, he notes, have failed to explain the lack of a correlation between rising CO2 and rising temperatures, a theory that Al Gore promotes in his movie An Inconvenient Truth.
believe it or ? hey we had one of the wettest, most/largest snow packs and coldest winters ever and it ain't over.....and yes I am quite aware what it has been doing in Europe and elsewhere............your time will come so you can bitch about shoveling the white stuff and defrosting your windows and windshields in the future |

Country: | The CO2 pollution acts as a mirror and reflects back the rays of the sun - in proportion to the thinning of the ozone layer. Proved shortly after 9/11. Nature somehow balances itself again.
