Good post

Funny how quickly this thread turned into making jokes about environmentalists? What does that say about most people's attitude to the whole thing?
It's good too joke though. Make the vegetableists feel bad...

Top link; I was gutted about missing that show the first time around. The whole thing really is beyond a joke now; saying you don't believe in climate change (how comes it's never called global warming any more) is akin to saying you're a satanist. I fear it might be too late though, the government knows full well it can use it to raise taxes. Our chancellor has just raised taxes to £400 a year for cars that produce the most co2; completely ignoring the fact that India or China put out far more in a day than we could in a year.

It has now got to the stage where we have government billboards by the road telling us to dirve in a low gear and keep our tyres pumped up to cut down on CO2! Although I do get a lot of satisfaction from dropping a gear every time I see one of those posters, and driving my high polluting car past at 6000 rpm. Take that hippies!

Ok my turn to add my 2 cents but unfortunately I am not as eloquent as Erich with his photo but can understand the reason Erich. 1 if we lessen the heavy pollutants in the atmosphere like we have been doing I can see a benefit for ourselves cleaner air for one I agree with that. 2 The effects of Solar winds sun spots and radiation from outer earth sources makes more sense than a thousand enviromentalist prattling death and destruction. Some one mentioned the Chicken Little Syndrome. I agree. As for taxation to pay for Global Warmist ah bullshit. There are more important issues we as humans can deal with for example war violence starvation and increasing human population and effects that has on animals in the enviroment

Some years ago the New Zealand Govt wanted to place a tax on Methane Gas emmission from domestic live stock. It was known as the Sheep Fart Tax. I kid you not. Enviromentalist wanted the New Zealand Govt to tax farmers on Methane being emitting by their live stock. The enviromentalist had said Methane was contributing to the destruction of the ozone layer of the earth and a tax must be issued to New Zealand Farmers to help stop this animal farting frenzy and save the ozone layer. How exactly this was to be measured by Govt Officials was unclear and also how was it to be taxed over a period of time to gain the revenue to be collected by sheep having a fluff up some paddock in New Zealand was in discussion in the New Zealand Parliament. One could visualize bootleg sheep farters in New Zealand in some back paddock north of Christchurch a sort of the Al Capone sort of scenerio where sheep could fart in a speak easy paddock. Or is that a squeak easy paddock without Govt Revenue Agents with gas jars sneaking about ready to tax the sheeps arse out of exsistence. You can imagine the Kiwis were embarrassed about this totally coming from their Government. Especially when the Aussies heard about it and the consquent jokes flew thick and fast across the Tasman. The legislation of animal emissions was dropped quicker than whores drawers at a free for all brothel and BBQ bum fest and was never mentioned in seriousness again. At this period I kind of lost my faith in enviromentalists which was never that high in the first place. I kind of view all enviromentalists the same since then and wonder if they had been sniffing what samples had been taken in New Zealand from the gas jar samples already taken from some ram in Kiwi Land.

At the moment we have the usual Neo Enviromentalist quasi Nazi fantics plans to save the world but includes taxing us out of exsistence. And the new buzz word Carbon Trading. Where I live in Queensland we produce more coal from our huge reserves of coal which has low levels of sulphur content. Japan buys this coal at an alarming rate per annum from what is known as the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. you can imagine the growth per capita in producing this coal and mining it and shipping it to Japan is one huge industry and revenue source not only to the Mines themselves but to State and Federal Govt in Australia. Thousands of miners their families and townships rely on the coal being dug out of the Bowen Basin, Not to mention the transport organisations like Queensland Railways gain revenue from the mines to ship the coal to the loading ports by rail to be loaded onto Japanese Coal handling vessels to be shipped straight to Japan on a daily basis. Then over last few months we have had Bob Brown of the Greens Party coming out saying that the coal industry must be closed down in next 5 years or so to save the world from green house gas emmissions and that Australia was a leading cause of green house gas because we sold coal to Japan. And those Japanese who by the way had signed the Kyoto Agreement were burning coal in huge furnances to produce energy in Japan and also producing steel from iron ore also from Australia. The Miners nearly shat themselves over this from Bob Brown the Governments both Federal and State had the same reaction as the miners. Queensland Railways saw Bob Brown as some lunatic escaped from some mental institution and the Japanese just grinned and thought how silly Australians were to give credence to some one like Bob Brown in the first place. And now this new by word Carbon Trading says two words to me EXTRA TAXES. So what does the Australian Government come out and say, Ok if we can't sell or mine coal to power our electircal plants we will go the nuclear power in next 15 years. Which by chance and by good management we have just as much yellow cake as we do coal. You can imagine the next thing that came out of Bob Brown's mouth and his cronies in the Greens Party about Australia going nuclear power plants etc. I kind of seeing it as damned if you do and damned if you don't sort of scenerio.. Last week in Sydney people were incouraged to turn of their home business and commercial lights for 1 hour to help save the enviroment and use of electricity was lowered or so we were told. All it acheived in my opinion was sweet bugger all and a total waste of time and effort as it didn't make one tap of difference but will increase the birth rate some 9 months from now slightly.

Any way thats my opinion of the hookem and scarem debate on greenhouse gas. And that video I watched reinforced my idea that the whole issue is a dead kipper just thrown up to gain more taxes out of my hip pocket nerve and other Australians and people from other countries as well who get the same bullshit from their own Governments and enviromental groups who have an invested interest in this whole farces.

Hell the cat just farted and the ozone layer has just been effected as I just booted the cat outside to save the enviroment and I am shipping the puss to our New Zealand mates across the Tasman hahaha

No Pb we are kind of use to droughts comes with the territory. And we are not that lacking in liquids. When the Brewery shuts down then we will be in right strife mate. But the drought is only in certain areas up the tropics it is flooding like blazes mate. Pb we have a poem here called My Country by Doreathea MacKellar. Part of the stanzas read. I love a sunburnt country
of droughts and flooding rains. Get the idea Pb

Pb the water crisis as you put it is bad. But more of the case because successeive Govts failed to plan for adequate infrastructure for the period of droughts. Australia is the driest continent on earth in places yet. we have had constant rain in the far north of the country and the West Australian Coast due to cyclones from the Arafura Sea. We do as a whole go through what is called the El Nino Effect. The El Nino is a warm cell in the Pacific Ocean of the coast of Western South America however this is normal weather pattern that can last from 5 years to 10 years which causes droughts in Australia. When the El Nino is of the East Coast of Australia the opposite applies to South America and they go through droughts for up to 5 to 10 years. As you can imagine as explained in the video the oceans take a temperature change memory which takes years to transmit to either side of the Pacific Ocean. Yes it is dry at the moment but its not something we have not had before or since and Global Warming can not explain why we have had monsoonal weather patterns in Northern Australia or cyclones of Western Australia contrary to their explainations. The explaination is quiet simple. The weather is unpredictable as it always has been and always will be. If Global Warming is apparent Pb then why did it snow in the US and Canada just last week when your winter is just about concluded? Wouldn't you say that was contridictory to Global Warming Theories?. It will rain in Australia when the effect of El Nino has passed in the South Eastern Pacifc Ocean. The Global Warmist expect you to think all of Australia at the moment is burnt over waste land from drought. It is not so Pb as many Australians will inform you of such. Droughts like bushfires are a constant here Pb as snow is a constant in Canada during certain parts of the year. And here is something you will find amazing for the first time in 5 years Lake Eyre in South Austrlia has filled to capacity even through a drought period. Now ask yourself why Lake Eyre has filled with water? Answer is quiet simple. Because of monsoonal rains from the North of the country flood waters has flowed down the dry river system from Northern Australia to Lake Eyre. The Global Warmists are struck dumb as this wasn't suppose to occur according to their theories. Not only has the flood waters flowed into Lake Eyre but the flood waters have absorbed back into the porus soils to regenerated the Great Artesian Basins in Central Australia. So you can see its not all doom and gloom. What we do need is for it to rain in Victoria South Australia Queensland New South Wales in the drought stricken areas. But this will occur when the El Nino Effect has passed Pb and the Govts need to restructure infrastructure more effectively Pb which they didn't over last 10 years.

Oh and I forgot to tell you Pb Lake Eyre is hundreds of miles from the coast line and at most times is only about a few feet deep in certain parts of it and is normally a place of low rain fall any way

Throwing my 2 cents back in. Emac and Neg creep hit on it.

Lets say there is GW. From emmissions, green house gas and chipmunk farts. And we all in top nations begin to restrict or reduce.

Will those third world industries? Do they care? You are not going to get the whole world to abide by the same regs. Won't happen and nothing will change.

Then we'll have to go force them to change and war will start and so commenceth the Fart Battles.

Its money, money, money, money.

Oh and another little thing. My nightly news cast gives the weather along with the current temperature and the record low or high. Most of these records are over forty years ago! Where was the panic then?
