Bush got his "experience" from looking over his father's shoulder !! Bush is
guilty of a lot of things, cronyism, ignorance of things going on around him,
but he is not guilty of having experience.

This ain't about Bush anymore guys. It's about the men (and one Satanic demon from Hell) running in 2008.

Look forward, not back.

Bush gave up after his re-election to his second term, his views on emigration and the silly open border policy proved that.

the US is going to have fun this fall and into 09 ........... whoever gets chosen, there is still not one candidate running I would choose to represent me, of course I've thought this since Nam ........ Oh Les/Becca ......... it's your turn to clean up America

Bush had both business experience and experience as a governer for several terms of one of the largest states in the union. If you are going by political experience, he had more experience than Clinton or Eisenhower and as much as Reagan, Kennedy and FDR.

although I agree with your statements Renrich Bush lost his spine upon his second term, and has since then made so terrible decisions thanks to himself and his cabinet. He acts in all due respect that he wants out of the job ASAP.

He appears to be just waiting to pass on the baton

Bush as a president

We on this forum, and everybody else for that matter, certainly have our opinions of the man and the job he is doing. But for him, as well as every president before, the ultimate judge will be history.

His legacy will be Iraq, and the jury is still out. If Iraq becomes a relatively stable success story, history will be kind. If it spins out of control and chaos engulfs the entire ME, not to mention the ripple effect that it will have on us, then move over LBJ and Jimmy Carter, you got company.

Erich, I certainly respect your opinion and TO's also. History will judge Bush and much of the judgment will be based on his policies in the Mid East. I suspect that both of youall are in the category of the less government the better, as I am. I haven't seen any presidents in my lifetime that met all my criteria for conservative politics and that goes back to FDR. I thought when I was young and knew all the answers that Truman was a lousy president. I now think that he did a pretty good job and answered a lot of tough questions with a lot of tough decisions. I believe that Bush will be judged in much the same way as Truman. If his foreign policies in hindsight were successful, he will be judged in a kindly manner. I won't be here to find out but I do know he appointed two strict constructionist supremes and I know he initiated a nice tax cut. I know he has been hammered unmercifully by the popular media and by the democrat party. In my time no president has been subjected to as much unbridled criticism, most of it unwarranted IMHO. He is a decent man and has conducted himself in office as I would hope a president would conduct himself. You can be sure if he had slipped up in any way his sins would have been exposed unlike the treatment of Kennedy or FDR. As for his second term he had only a slim majority in congress at first and not much support from Republicans because the war in Iraq had been made so unpopular by the democrat party and their lap dogs, the liberal media and then he lost that majority so that his last two years he could only advance his foreign policy. You can be sure that he has continued to pursue his foreign policy initiatives. Many of his decisions have been made(examples are:illegal immigration, this silly tax rebate plan to stave off a possible recession) for political reasons but if the Republicans don't do some things to pander to the voters, there won't be any Repubs in office. Being idealistic and sticking to your principles sounds good but doesn't usually win elections. "Politics is the art of the possible" I don't know who first said that but it is a truth. If one remembers Reagan signed a bill giving unconditional amnesty to illegal immigrants. I suspect that was done to try to pander to the Latino vote. Reagan is a conservative icon but he was trying to advance Repub interests. My opinion ( in case you haven't already guessed it) is that history will judge Bush kindly. I suspect he is already quite popular with a lot of people who live in Iraq.

Presidents and X-wifes take years to know if they were really good or bad..I was once told..

At the end of any Presidents time in office the last hours they do crazy stuff..And Mr Clinton did a mess of sh!!t a new bench mark of under handedness .. The most of any President..(Sorry I forget what they call it)...He closed a mess of "so called" public lands in my state of Arizona.. ...Let people out of jail and such...

I wonder what Bush will do in his last hours...????...

Saw james Carville on TV this AM. He is the loud mouthed, bald headed, democrat who has worked for the Clintons as a political consultant in the past and is now back aboard. He was saying that since our national security is so at risk because of terrorism, etc. that Hillarita is much more qualified than Obama to lead our country. Was it not less than a year ago that the dems were downplaying the importance of our national security, get out of Iraq and lose the battle against AlQaeda?

Guess it all depends on one's perspective. I had occasion to get tangled up in politics on a local basis for about 9 years while working for a ski resort in a small ski town in Colorado. This town has been labeled the most left winged ski town in the US and you could not prove it isn't by me. I did learn that politics is the art of the possible. It is all well and good to poke holes in the air and talk about principle but when you are faced with reality and you are trying to get something through the town council or planning commission that will save the business you are working for or maybe save your job you learn to go along to get along or you never get even a crumb off the table. That is the way our system works in this country and if one does not like it then it is TS because nothing is going to change it. Bush understands the system, tries to work within it and if one thinks he is a terrible president I predict you are going to really dislike the next president unless you are a lefty.
