Country: | If you honestly think the US is better off then it was in then it was 45 years ago when I started to notice things I'll be amazed .
From my perch it certainly isn't and thats why Hillary is the senator from NY and will be Dem contender for Pres because she a least pretends to care. |

And Hillary is the senator from NY for the same reason Bobby Kennedy was. NY is a democratic state and the folks there obviously can't recognize a carpetbagger when they see one.
But I do agree with the last part of your post, "because she a least pretends to care", pretends being the key word.

Sorry to say this pb, but you sound very much like the far-left in this country that constantly bashes the USA.
And what does this have to do the topic, How it will fell if Hillary gets elected...?
Respectfully,
TO | TO I don't know if the decline is stunning, YET, but there are a couple of cancers that are eating away at US prosperity. The first is the situation with illegal immigration, how long can your country can continue with 20 million+ illegals, not contributing any taxes but soaking up health & education $$$ before the thing gets out of control?
The second is the huge trade defecit with China is another. They manipulate their currency, steal patented products & technology then pump out millions of knock offs. They have few if any workers or human rights, and are destroying the environment. Meanwhile your polititians turn a blind eye because of the $$ Payola from the corporations
It can't continue like this for very long.

And if you can't see through Hillary, better get your eyes and ears examined.

Country: | I dont advocate for hillary as stated many times my choice would have been Biden as a DEM . As for the Republicans the same can be said if you can't see through them or any politico of any stripe you should give your head a shake. I'm quite aware of the geography size and diversity of your country and without a doubt the rust belt is not the same as the bible belt or the west coast but at least my observations are not made from second hand info or some hacks impression . After that rant I think I'll walk over and get me a big fat Cohiba

Country: | I vote my philosophy. I'm a non-partisan, independent, traditional, conservative American so that's the type of candidate (or as close to it) that I will vote for. In this day and age that generally means Republican.
Your guy Biden? I could live with him, though he's no longer an issue.
We also survived LBJ, Nixon and Carter, but.....
As for Hillary, that bitch as president will be the worst disaster to befall this country since the Confederacy bombarded Fort Sumter. If I sound like a broken record it's because I truly believe she will destroy our country.

It can't continue like this for very long. | Those are two problems that need to be dealt with, but tell me, how much are they affecting our prosperity? Put a number on it. Don't know if anybody can.
And we are still the most affluent and prosperous country in the world.
Do we need to secure the border....YES! Stop buying crap from China...YES! But let's not go overboard and say that the allfuence and prosperity of the United States is in a steady decline.

I thought Thompson was good too, but he went nowhere too.... Quote:

TO | I don't think I could disagree with any of your post TO.
I would still be a bit worried even with McCain or Romney, they have both been soft on Immigration.
All of us north of the border will be interested to see how this will affect us too. Our Conservative party could not get a majority, and some pundits here think it was partly because our P.M. was too close to Bush. Our politico's are not really any better than yours.
Lets hope we can get a sensible government in Canada too, our NDP (left wing) wanted to have our soldiers in Afganistan stop doing any actual fighting. perhaps we could just be giving out flowers to the Taliban or something?

Country: | The decline of the US based on anecdotal evidence of sights seen in upstate New York is not very persuasive to me. Take a trip to New York City sometime and see how prosperous it seems. A big part of the illegal immigration problem is all the BS floating around which is believed by misinformed people. I have heard 10M to 20 M illegals. Which is correct? That is a pretty big spread. Illegals don't pay taxes? BS! Most communities, counties and states have sales taxes. If you buy something, you pay tax. In Texas, the real estate taxes are sky high. All counties have real estate taxes everywhere. Illegals pay real estate taxes either directly or indirectly. That is how most public schools are funded. Illegals may or may not pay FICA or income tax but since must illegals are paid low wages they don't qualify to pay income tax anyway. I can't remember the exact number but a huge proportion of wage earners, something in excess of 35% don't pay any income tax in our country. Speaking of the global economy and the "weak" dollar, our manufacturing companies are doing quite well in the export market. They have one problem. 90% of them can't find enough skilled workers such as machinists that pay up wards of 60k per year. They are losing orders as a result. By the way you Canadians benefit a great deal from the thirst for oil here in the US. You are our biggest supplier. The polls are starting to show a trend for obama over hillarita. My opinion is that if obama gets the nomination, either Republican will beat him like a drum. Probably hillarita too. If she gets it I believe Richardson will be her running mate in an effort to get the latino vote. |
