I don't want to get into a war here. But circumstance does not make the man. Who really knows what happened over there. I was there too. Just a grounded REMF who also got shot at. All I am saying is, how much is truth? We tend to make heroes when we need them. I am totally confused when it comes to this political crap. Remember John Kerry? After what he did in Nam to push his agenda, I am completely in the dark as to how far a politician will go to be elected or remain in office.

Who was it that said "Why would a man spend 200 million dollars to get a job that paid $400K a year????????

Well, that and power. You are the figurehead of the greatest country on Earth. IMO. NOT a bad gig.

and your retirement bennies are out of this world.

I think Mc Cain's service record has never been questioned. I think its enough that he was a POW for a number of years. I'm sure it was no ClubMed.

I remember seeing a video of a missile cook-off on an Aircraft Carrier that caused alot of havoc and killed some servicemen. I'm sure someone will correct me on this but I remember the narrator saying that McCain was in one of the jets waiting for take-off.

That statement is false on any level. "Circumstance" absolutely makes the man. How one reacts in a life and death situation or under extreme conditions or pressure tells much about any man.

How about this for an example of a "circumstance" making a man: A live grenade is tossed toward a squad of marines; one marine covers it with his body and saves the lives of his buddies by sacrificing his own. That "circumstance" happened 27 times in the Pacific during WW II.

Do a little research. Not even McCain's biggest political enemies have ever questioned his heroism or patriotism, and with good reason.

You think John McCain woke up one morning and decided to get himself shot down, seriously wounded, imprisoned and tortured for five and a half years so that he could run for president 30 years later

McCain is one man who has nothing to prove as to his status of being a stand up guy . He passed the test with bells on .

On a side note it was noticed up here that most of the politicians in the primaries are contibually saying I will do this or I have done that but Obama is always saying we and his speeches have been compared with Kennedys for that fact alone

If you are referring to the incident on the USS Forrestal (CVA-59), McCain's
aircraft was the one hit by the errant missile ! And he was in it at the time.
No doubt, he made a hasty exit. It was well aft, on the port side, if memory serves.

Altho I don't know if he will get my vote, I do not question his patriotism,
professionalism, his service record or his ability to lead.

Charles

Well, Chris, you're either left of right, right of left, or sitting on the fence
not knowing whether to take a crap or draw small stores....
