Country: | HUSSEIN EXECUTED BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi dictator who spent his last years in captivity after his ruthless regime was toppled by the U.S.-led coalition in 2003, was hanged before dawn Saturday for crimes committed in a brutal crackdown during his reign.
The execution took place shortly after 6 a.m. (10 p.m. Friday ET), Iraq's national security adviser, Mowaffak al-Rubaie, told Iraqi television.
"This dark page has been turned over," Rubaie said. "Saddam is gone. Today Iraq is an Iraq for all the Iraqis, and all the Iraqis are looking forward. ... The [Hussein] era has gone forever."

Country: | Looked like a "so long, f*ck you" sign language to me, E. I think that was aimed at Hussein...

Country: | Good that he is dead. He deserved it. Now though comes the worst of the worst. The war will only get worse and the islamist throughout the world only worse as well. It will be an even more trying period.
We will succeed though!

Country: | Good, he deserved that. I agree Adler, it is going to get worse before it gets better.

Country: | Man sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that still doesn't want to see the death penalty - even in cases such as this. I know many are elated about this, and please explain the merits as to why execution was for the best to me, because I'm just not seeing it. That's a serious question - someone please take me up on it.

God is the ultimate judge over all men but he also created us as men-warriors to carry out his bidding while on this earth. Saddam was ordained to be the leader of Iraq for a time and now his chapter whatever it was worth has come to a close. he will be forgotten like the other kings of Iraq of old |
