Yep, I'm afraid so. Iraqi militia have released a video of five British citizens and threatened to kill one of the hostages if British forces don't withdraw from their country. It's thought that the hostages are an IT consultant and his four bodyguards. One of the hostages speaks on the film, saying "Today is November 18th. I have been here now 173 days and I feel we've been forgotten." One of the kidnappers threatens to kill the hostage as "a first warning" and chillingly adds "which would be followed with details that you would not wish to know". See:

This has been kept VERY low key (see my post # 69 line 2), and has not had any media coverage that I can recall.

However, things have turned nasty in the last few days and they now see to be in the hands of some Bad Ba$tards. No one knows of this group and UK Nationals’ survival rates are not good eg Ken Bigley, Margaret Hassan.

The hostages were kidnapped in Iraq, in May, by roughly forty gunmen disguised in police uniforms and driving vehicles used by the Iraqi security forces. Note that the captor on the left of the picture is wielding an M-16, not the usual AK-M. Given that these ‘unpleasant types’, about 8 vehicles worth, walked into a Ministry building in the Green Zone, it says a lot about the loyalties of some of the Iraqi “security forces”.

Father killed daughter for not wearing hijab, her friends say

Friends and classmates of a 16-year-old girl who police say was murdered by her devout Muslim father in a Toronto suburb told local media Tuesday she was killed for not wearing a hijab.
Police said in a statement they received an emergency call at 7:55 am local time Monday from "a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter."

The victim, Aqsa Parvez, was "rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically passed away late last night."

Her father, Muhammad Parvez, 57, was arrested at the scene and will be formally charged with murder when he appears in court Wednesday, said police.

The girl's friends, meanwhile, told local media she was having trouble at home because she did not conform to the family's religious beliefs and refused to wear a traditional Islamic head scarf, or hijab.

"She wanted to go different ways than her family wanted to go, and she wanted to make her own path, but he (her father) wouldn't let her," one of her classmates told public broadcaster CBC.

"She loved clothes," another of her friends, Dominiquia Holmes-Thompson, told the daily Toronto Star. "She just wanted to show her beauty ... She just wanted to dress like us, just like a normal person."

According to her friends, Aqsa had worn the hijab at school last year, but rebelled in recent months.

They said she would leave home wearing a hijab and loose-fitting clothes, but would take off her head scarf and change into tighter garments at school, then change back before going home at the end of the day.

The victim's 26 year-old brother was also charged with obstructing police in the investigation.

That's the problem with immigrants today. They want to live in a civilized country but they don't want to be a part of that civilized society. Instead they insist on staying separated but still want all of the rights and protections of that country. Of course they think they can just do what they did in the old country........

I'm currently reading a book called "Sniper One" by Sgt. Dan Mills who served in Iraq in 2004. I've learnt a lot about Iraq from the book as the man sugar-coats nothing with PC. Most of the gun-fire he heard through the night was between Iraqi tribes fighting over terrority in the city. And many Iraqis died in a firefight over the ownership of a cow ! This really says a lot about the Middle-East culture... not really modern.
