Country: | Maybe she can reason with them. Oh sorry, this is the real world.
Another liberal changing the world one whipping at a time.

Country: | None of you think that's maybe overreacting a bit? I respect others' customs when I can, but an honest mistake is no need for a police raid and public lashing. Besides, the kids named it after the kid in the class and not the prophet.

Country: | You play with fire, you might get burned. Remember the US kid in Singapore that was caught spray painting graffiti? He was sentenced to an ungodly number of lashes. His rich daddy pleaded with the US authorities to intervene and the US public just laughed at his criminal son.
I don't think that she deserves lashes for her act, but I do have to say I am increasingly tired of these 'save the world do-gooders' wanting to help these ass-backwards 7th century zealots, when her time could have been better spent helping blind kids in the UK.

That, my good friend, sez it all. Take care of your own first...

| I don't think she's a "liberal do-gooder". She was a teacher at Unity High School, Khartoum, Sudan which is upmarket and caters to the children of foreign diplomats and workers, and the top level of Sudanese professionals.
Judging by the remarks of the Sudanese ambassador, she is likely to be released with nothing more than a token punishment. |

Country: | I'm split on this. I'm with Aggie in the respect that we don't jail every Jesus that comes from Mexico (though sometimes we should..."Got that Green card?")
But Matt has a good point too. You better know where you're standing before you act. But the Singapore idiot was committing a crime as opposed to this dunderhead. She was just stupid.

Country: | She doesn't deserve jail anyway and I would say lashes are a bit harsh too. If she does get off scot free then so be it good for her. At least she will of learned not to p*ss of an Arab about his religion...

| Yes, I didn't phrase that very well. I should have said that I didn't realize they used a cane.
