"If hooking up an Iraqi prisoner's scrotum to a car's battery cables will
save one American GI's life, then I have just two things to say":
1. "Red is positive"
2. "Black is negative" | LMAO Don't forget to rev the car up after you hook up the cables.

I don't understand the argument against torture that we need to protect our captured soldiers. What enemy have we fought that followed any convention on POWs, Germans, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Iraqis? It does not matter how nice we are, the ememies we face basically consider that a weakness and no amount of nice treatment of our prisoners will cause a return on the favor.
And how many POWs have we had in the last 50 years, 1000 at the most! 3000 people, innocent people, women and children, died on 9/11. If we could save a city from distruction at the expense of a thousand military personnel, is that a bad trade off. I hate to sound harsh and indeed I never was a POW, a terrrible fate, and I know many would object, including me if I was ever captured, but when you join the military you are exposing yourself to terrible injury, limbs blown off, burns, blindness and many more things with the hope that your sacrifice will save your home and loved ones. Does this risk/reward suddenly stop when you are a POW.
I must sound evil, but if torture could save people, and I think it could, I would do it.
One of my class buddies was a POW and I wouldn't want any person to undergo torture, but, I don't think our philosophy of kindness to the enemy POWs helps our captured warriors at all.
Any comments. |

Country: | ...and when we begin to label cold floors and sleep deprivation "torture" you quickly lose all credibility in my eyes. Mamby pamby liberalism. If we would just take the time to sit down and discuss thier feelings there would be no violence in this world.
BS

Country: | Hand the interigation of prisoners over to OSHA.
So much paperwork, "do you realise how DANGEROUS it is running around with that AK? Someone could get hurt"
Within 1 hour they would cough everything to make it stop.

Country: | When the Japs actually apologize to the British, Aussie, Kiwi and Yank prisoners they mistreated in a way the Germans didn't even think about...
There is one thing; I'm not entirely condemning the use of strenuous interrogation under certain circumstances, but we do need to hold the moral high ground. It may be unfashionable to say such things, but when I look in the mirror, I want to be able to look myself in the eye; and when I stand before God, I want to be able to look HIM in the eye.
I don't want people to be able to say the same things about the British Army that they say about certain other armies.

I think that's very important to a lot of people. Being able to look God in the eye at your judgement is the whole premise behind chivalry. My Grandfather was a bombardier on a B-17G, and he was troubled greatly by the bombing of cities. I've heard of some breaking down, crying, asking God's forgiveness after each mission...
